Sunlun are massive

Is newcastle a bigger city?? I thought they were around the same size, population wise

Sunderland bigger in area, Newcastle slightly bigger in population.. Sunderland was until a decade or so ago
Newcastle’s always had a bigger population Sunderland’s only became bigger because they changed the boundaries.
Anyway the Tyneside conurbation has 800,000 people.

No Sunderland had more people until very recently

The Durham comment should be true but there’s just as many mags there now so find that comment a bit disrespectful to the city which just like Newcastle follow their local club and is the only place in the north east that is staunch sunderland. How can ya say well Newcastles support comes from the city and sunderlands is from durham? They’re the ones with the plastic support not us
There isn't man.

At Wembley in 92, I can't recall if Liverpool were politely clapped, ignored or booed when they came past us with the Cup at the end. I just remember the abuse aimed at Souness was vitriolic.

Historically Newcastle always had a bigger population than Sunderland.
Local government reorganisation I think in 1974 we took in the outlying areas like Houghton,Hetton,Easington Lane, Washington Penshaw, Shiney Row and Herrington bolstered Sunderland’s population.
