Is it not dangerous to wear sunglasses while it's cloudy. I would have thought plain lenses to be more appropriate.

Depends how dark the glass is I suppose. My riding glasses are only a slight shade. If I'm out for 3-4 hours I dinnit really want to be chopping and changing when the weather is a bit variable.
