Sunderland want new striker by end of next week

There is a lot of opinion on there. Not as much as on here of course, but RR is a blog. Opinion is what it's there for. Newspapers today reported the new kit, where as we were able to report it and say what we thought of it.

I don't even always agree with the opinion on RR myself tbh. Last season Craig Clark butchered Short on there, for example, but it still went up. But it's there to provide reading and generate discussion. Disagreeing with it is part of that.

Not even about opinion, you do it yourself, and it isn't just RR, people saying someone will be a good signing, when there is no chance they have seen them play, happens daily.

I had the sense to wait until the start of the season though, instead of pissing my pants in early July.

In others words you clung to the coat-tails of those who saw the way things were going in real time. You strike me as an individual who's incapable of independent thought.....happy to sit with the herd rather than express an opinion that may be seen as contentious.

Are you serious?

We've bought a sub keeper, a right back that has a dubious injury record and is almost a like for like replacement for Bardsley and Gomez who when not involved in a relegation battle is playing in the lower leagues.

We've signed three squad players and have so far failed to sign Alonso, Borini and Ki. I would have thought Alonso would have signed as soon as the window opened.
So all three are rubbish then? They all seem good signings to me but I will reserve judgement until I have seen them and know what I'm talking about. Unlike some negative people who never see anything positive in the club.

It's not about being positive or negative........just give an opinion based in reality. It doesn't need to be sugar-coated as you're only deluding yourself that way. We've added a decent 2nd choice keeper, we've lost 4 players who can play at RB and added one and we've lost a player from CM that the club were desperate to keep and replaced him with one who may be as good, may be a bit better but could conceivably be worse (he was booed to fuck by Wigan fans while a PL player). That's not negativity......it's how things are.

This. Scared of making his opinions known at the time in fear of being jumped on.

Our out goings.
Borini
Alonso
Ki
Gardner
Colback
Bardsley.
New signings.
Jones
Gomez
Pantilimon.
The squad has been severely weakened. We still need at least 3 players

I'm not saying they're rubbish but they aren't exactly quality. That is for sure.

Usually there is little to be positive about where Sunderland are concerned unless you are kidding yourself. This is yet another summer of upheaval and I can see history repeating itself. We'll bring in loans. The ones that do well won't sign.

For all the successful loans we've had, how many have we signed?! Meaning we are weakened each and every close season and are in limbo as to whether or not our side will be ready/strong enough for the new season.

It's like groundhog day.

This. At least three signings just to be where we were last season!

We have done the right thing by getting the Bosmans in early. We will sign some loans and also spend some money. It's still early days. Beardsley is replaced. Arguably Colback already is. Gardner didn't need replacing. Gomez is a creative midfielder. We are well on the way to replacing that list. The ones that seem the priority are left back and whatever we see Borini as.

Our squad is paper thin, hopefully 2 or 3 permanent signings and 2 or 3 loan signings to come. Otherwise another year of treading water.

I think a lot of people are hanging on to the idyll that Poyet will manage to bring in mediocre players to play the way he wants to play and somehow have a half decent season. We do need quality, however the names linked are uninspiring, on the flip side, who knows if those links are real or made up shit. As for the new signings, I'm happy enough to bring them in and see what pans out, they haven't cost a fee so let's wait and see.
The only positive I can glean is that it is still early days, however we need players in and we need them in sooner rather than later.

Pre-season games start in just over a week's time.........let's hope we've arranged five-a-sides initially.

You forgot vergini, westwood, ustari and celustka mate.

And Dossena.

Still to early for me, not many teams will have the squad they wish for the entire pre season. I would prefer to have those players in for part of it, next preference is by the season start, followed as a last resort, by the end of August. My biggest worry is the calibre of names being bandied about who we know we would stand a good chance of getting.

And Graham.

To be fair a lot of them contributed the square root of fuck all but in the event of an emergency they were bodies to call on.......twice recently we've had situations where we had no central defenders available despite having 5 on the books and only Graham available out of our striking options despite having 5 on the books. You do need cover and we're woefully short defensively currently.

I agree......it was the manager who said he wanted them in for pre-season.

Why do we always take an age putting in bids and faffing about. Boring is young and we know he has what it takes. Give Liverpool the £10.5 mill and get him in. Bargain given what we paid for altidore and graham
