Sunderland Vs Newcastle. Are we really that much better?

They have a better midfield, we have a better squad. Very even IMO in that both teams are nothing special.

Our squad is much stronger overall which you admitted too.

You've twisted my words slightly there, I said your squad depth was a lot stronger, but the most important aspect of a squad will always be it's first XI. How many times we'll be able to see that preferred XI in action this season remains to be seen like. Like I said though, there's currently very little between us. We're as evenly matched as we have been in a good while, evidenced by fact we were a single point apart last season.

I am far happier with our squad cheers.

PS Do the mags have a forum that they have a laugh and a bit banter on? genuine question, and if so what is it like?

fair point
i think starting 11's is very close with NUFCs maybe shading it
squadwise i think SAFC's shades it
injuries will dictate where we both finish up
my personal bet would be SAFC again finishing one or two places higher but there won't be much in it

Cant quite agree with that mind. They are par with us if anything, not the other way around.

I can see this one being nil nil. Both teams have fairly solid defences, and both will struggle to score many goals this season as the teams currently stand.

It astounds me how so many people write Newcastle off because of their side on paper. Do people never learn? The way some went on before the 5-1 was embarrasing.

Anyone that does that is a f***ing idiot and knows about football.

Anyone else find it odd that the Op is comparing each position [other than keeper] as opposed to who they'll be up against on the day.

I think this benchmark makes all of the rest null and void

Taylor Brown - Out of 36 attributes, Taylor was better than Brown in 15, Brown was better than Taylor in 14 and the rest were draws.

:lol::lol:

Of which, one was "acting" and one was "wilful misinterpretation of the facts";)

At the weekend Sunderland only had two new players in the starting XI for the first game of the season - and they started with the same nervousness that inhibited the team on big occasions last season - individual errors at the back should have seen the game finished after half an hour. But when they gained some composure they looked a decent side.

I'm expecting another nervous start then, but rather than lift the side (as supporters at Stoke or Newcastle would) the notoriously poor Stadium of Light crowd will kill off their own side, as they did in last years derby, just about any game where there was a full house, and countless other times over the last decade or so.

Prediction: 1-0 to Newcastle

Quite an easy one to predict. You can always rely on Sunderland's poor support to let their side down when the big occasion comes.

Some of the arrogance on this thread suggests that SAFC's most deluded supporters will never learn.

If they made a bit of noise in the stadium rather than shouting the odds on the internet, maybe they might see another derby win one day.

Few people might now have had a wake up call. The scum are disjointed as a club, problems behind the scenes continue yet they still have put together a squad that is a match for ours unfortunately.

If only our manager got a wake up call

Told ya so. Bruce out!

Most of the idiots on here never learn. When we're being relegated they'll still announce Bruce as the best thing since sliced bread

I agree there isn't much between the two starting XIs.

Our bench is much, much stronger hopefully we can use it to good effect.

If they were playing anyone else I'd also say we have a big advantage in the striker department, but we've never been able to deal with Ameobi who generally looks like Pele on crack against us.

in the event of the lack of an acrow prop you could use a strong bench.

They'll still do something they never did in the first place? That's serious happy clapping, good work.

I'm still shagging Kelly Brook.

you'll never learn will you:cry:

He's gone, mate.

Probably here :-
