At last someone who is thinking level headed, for what its worth based on my opinion on the players head to head and using your criteria here is my prediction :

Newc Sund

Krul v Mignolet Newcastle

Simpson v Bardsley Sunderland

Collocini v Ferdinand Newcastle

Taylor v Brown Sunderland

R Taylor v Richardson Newcastle

Barton v El Mohammady Newcastle

Tiote v Cattermole Newcastle

Cabaye v Colback Newcastle

Guiterrez v Larsson Sunderland

Ba v Sessegnon Newcastle

Ameobi v Gyan Sunderland

Result Newcastle 7 v 5 Sunderland = Newcastle to win by 2 clear goals, hope this doesnt work out

Firstly - player comparison is utter shit.

Secondly - how the fuck is Ryan Taylor a better left back than Richardson?

Thirdly - Sessegnon is better than every player Newcastle have in their squad (in an attacking sense obviously, I wouldnt fancy him in goal) nevermind f***ing Demba Ba.

Finally - Fuck off you cunt

I posted a thread with my fears before the 5-1 and was lambasted for it. October 31 came around and i was soon proved very right. Please view it below:

Newtonlee2 27th August 2010....................

.....Oh how right i was to be proven. Nolan went on to score 12 goals and Barton was one of the oustanding midfielders of the year. They both dominated us in the derby and it was totally men vs boys.

The saying i 'told you so' doesn't do make up for all the abuse i took and i expect to take the same amount with this thread.

So the question is are we really that much better?

Lets have a look at the likely starting XIs:

Newc Sund
Krul Mignolet Draw

Simpson Bardsley Draw

Collocini Ferdinand Newcastle

Taylor Brown Sunderland

R Taylor Richardson Sunderland

Barton El Mohammady Newcastle

Tiote Cattermole Newcastle

Cabaye Colback Draw (but thats being kind as ligue 1 winning french international against a young lad)

Guiterrez Larsson Draw

Ba Sessegnon (Hard to compare so i won't)

Ameobi Gyan Newcastle win but only against us

So what do we have here? 4 wins to Newcastle, 4 draws and 2 wins to Sunderland. Obviously only my opinion but i'm usually bang on the money.

Another summer and another chance to cement our status as North East top dogs sadly passed us by. I really really hope i'm wrong and we go on to stuff the horrible inbred c unts but again i just can't really see where we edge this???

What really worries is we are going to have a very young midfield against their experienced one YET AGAIN and we all know what happened last time! Bruce won't drop Elmo after his assist and we've seen him crumble in both previous derbies. He's not a big game player that lad i'm afraid.

Make no mistakes Barton will dominate and will be winding Cattermole up something rotten.

We still have a chance to do something about this. Put someone like Gardner into the mix and we suddenly have another twat in the middle with attitude and thats what you need to match Barton and co. Sorry Colback but i'd drop you for Vaughan.........very similar players but i think Vaughan's experience would help us a great deal against them.

I fear the writing was on the wall when Bruce picked his first XI for Liverpool. He doesn't learn and should always have been thinking ahead to the derby instead of firing young lads in there again when he saw how they wilted and hid in the demolition.

Haway Bruce and Quinn you still have a chance to sign a quality left winger and a decent striker. I'm sick of being second best to these twats up the road so do something about it please!
Not one swear word...you're maturing

I am one of thousands of Geordies who supports the lads, and I don't take kindly to being called an 'inbred c unt'

The only Newcastle players, imo, who'd get in are Barton, BenArfa (but tbh could you even count him) and Tiote. Colocinni is better than Anton and Turner and as much as the mags would laugh at this he'd be battlin with Bramble for the spot alongside Brown.

We are a better team, but that does not guarantee a victory. Its not really about who has the best squad or the most quality. It's about who wants it and who turns up on the day.

On merit, explain what Sess had done in the Premiership v what Ba did in the Premiership last year.

Sess has performed well in a few friendlies pre season, hardly impressive when it got competitive against Liverpool on Saturday. Like i said its about opinions and perceptions, i cant understand who people think that Richardson is a Left Back, personally i think he is our weak link in defence and will cost us goals all season getting caught in possesion and not being able to tackle, but thats my opinion.

At the weekend Sunderland only had two new players in the starting XI for the first game of the season - and they started with the same nervousness that inhibited the team on big occasions last season - individual errors at the back should have seen the game finished after half an hour. But when they gained some composure they looked a decent side.

I'm expecting another nervous start then, but rather than lift the side (as supporters at Stoke or Newcastle would) the notoriously poor Stadium of Light crowd will kill off their own side, as they did in last years derby, just about any game where there was a full house, and countless other times over the last decade or so.

Prediction: 1-0 to Newcastle

You've forgot the end of last season already for Sessegnon but Ba apparently did better in comparison? Richardson may be a weak link but you are comparing him to Ryan Taylor not Ashley Cole or Leighton Baines.

I try not to do this on here, but every now and again some tedious cheb deserves it.

and, seeing as its Derby week....F*CK OFF YOU TEDIOUS ATTENTION SEEKING TW8T

What I find most pitiful is that it's clear that some Sunderland supporters want us to lose so they can say 'See? I told you so' to a load of strangers on the internet.

Is second class syndrome so ingrained?

It's time to leave the old fears behind, to stop treating them up the road like the boogeymen. They're just another team nowadays and the sooner you stop shitting your pants about 'bragging rights' and 'revenge' the sooner you'll see the big picture.

At left wing or when he's been played up front? SCored a canny few goals, set more up & his all round play looked class.

My only worry is that midfield pairing of Barton and Tiote, they could control the midfield and the game.

Newcastle will be tough to break the down and disciplined. I think it'll be a tight game with nothing much in it, a bit like the last home one.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that we'll sneak a 1-0 win.

That won't be their midfield pairing, if they play two in there then it'll be Cabaye and Tiote.

The only way Barton will play there is if they go 4-5-1 and that's my worry. If they do that I would worry that our midfield would get over run and they'd win the midfield battle and control the game.

How many points did we finish ahead of them last season, there lies your answer.

We were slightly better than them, this year I expect to be about 9 points better than them, and hopefully at least 1 derby win!!!
