Guiterrez / Larsson Draw mmmm guiterrez is a headless chicken no final ball and the mags admit that, larsson his set pieces alone comes out on top there,

Ba/ sessegnon i will compare for you sess his willingness to get involved his all round play Ba just settling in to his new team mates not sure where he fits into a team that is going to struggle to score let alone create.

Simpson / bardsley got to be bardsley for me gives 100%

Tiote / cattermole on saturdays showing catts, tiote looked lost in that midfield against arsenal yes but never looked interested all the same i think the damage done by selling nolan, enrique and bartons tweets if things go against them they will colapse in the coming weeks/ months

I couldn't give a shit about the finish. Top 6/7 and Europe and i'd be happy but not one point above them you stupid twat.

What matters to me is bragging rights for the derby and i'm pointing out my fears again. I want you to rub it in my face if we beat them but all i can see is a draw or a close defeat.

Natural pessimism as a result of last season is probably the state for most of us but I do think we have the better team this year(but then we all know Ameobi's useless - except against us)

I posted a thread with my fears before the 5-1 and was lambasted for it. October 31 came around and i was soon proved very right. Please view it below:

Newtonlee2 27th August 2010....................

.....Oh how right i was to be proven. Nolan went on to score 12 goals and Barton was one of the oustanding midfielders of the year. They both dominated us in the derby and it was totally men vs boys.

The saying i 'told you so' doesn't do make up for all the abuse i took and i expect to take the same amount with this thread.

So the question is are we really that much better?

Lets have a look at the likely starting XIs:

Newc Sund
Krul Mignolet Draw

Simpson Bardsley Draw

Collocini Ferdinand Newcastle

Taylor Brown Sunderland

R Taylor Richardson Sunderland

Barton El Mohammady Newcastle

Tiote Cattermole Newcastle

Cabaye Colback Draw (but thats being kind as ligue 1 winning french international against a young lad)

Guiterrez Larsson Draw

Ba Sessegnon (Hard to compare so i won't)

Ameobi Gyan Newcastle win but only against us

So what do we have here? 4 wins to Newcastle, 4 draws and 2 wins to Sunderland. Obviously only my opinion but i'm usually bang on the money.

Another summer and another chance to cement our status as North East top dogs sadly passed us by. I really really hope i'm wrong and we go on to stuff the horrible inbred c unts but again i just can't really see where we edge this???

What really worries is we are going to have a very young midfield against their experienced one YET AGAIN and we all know what happened last time! Bruce won't drop Elmo after his assist and we've seen him crumble in both previous derbies. He's not a big game player that lad i'm afraid.

Make no mistakes Barton will dominate and will be winding Cattermole up something rotten.

We still have a chance to do something about this. Put someone like Gardner into the mix and we suddenly have another twat in the middle with attitude and thats what you need to match Barton and co. Sorry Colback but i'd drop you for Vaughan.........very similar players but i think Vaughan's experience would help us a great deal against them.

^^^Agree it has to be Vaughan and Gardner in for Elmo and Colback

Thanks for reading to the bottom mate. They are a must for this kind of game but we all know how Bruce doesn't change his team unless it gets tonked. Hopefully he has learn't his lesson...

I rate Elmo but not higher than any of the other options across the midfield, he's also probably the most likely to bottle the occassion. In spite of all that I still have a nagging feeling that we need him in as the whole midfield is otherwise too one paced. We need at least some out ball and Elmo's pace provides that. I think that's why Bruce went with him on Saturday and will go with him again in the derby and, unless we sign a pacy left sided player (which we're obviously in the market for having made an approach for Bellamy), what he will go with on a lot of occassions this season.

Elmo's no where near as bad as he's made out to be on here.

Rather have Seb on RHS midfield with Ji on LHS if you feel we need some pace.

We are better than them man for man all over the park and our morale is far higher too.

We are going to batter them! Ha'way!

I don't normally post this kind of thing, but I think this sums you up:

Hate Bruce Love Sunderland

You're probably hoping we lose on Sat so you can say you were bang on the money.

Prick.

What a small time attitude. Did you see Man United handwringing over a derby defeat when they were parading the Premier League trophy around time after time?

Over 38 games we were the better team. That matters more to me than a one-off result in either favour.

You've been calling Vaughan worse than shite ever since he signed and now you want him in the team for our biggest game of the season.

why would a sunderland fan say that?
at the start of any season,ask any fan in the north east (safc/nufc) the least they would hope for and i think it would go something like this;
1.survival.
2.to win derbies.
3. to finish above rivals.
given that trophies are highly unlikely and relegation (especially in our case)is also highly unlikely, there's only two objectives.do better in the derbies and to finish higher.to say you don't care about finishing higher, is laughable.

In military terms, he's prepping his fallback position, ready to switch to a new line of whining in case his current wail gets blown out of the water at the weekend.

I fear the writing was on the wall when Bruce picked his first XI for Liverpool. He doesn't learn and should always have been thinking ahead to the derby instead of firing young lads in there again when he saw how they wilted and hid in the demolition.

Haway Bruce and Quinn you still have a chance to sign a quality left winger and a decent striker. I'm sick of being second best to these twats up the road so do something about it please!

Your a Pratt.

anyone claiming that we are streets ahead of the Mags needs to remove their red and white spec's.

The league table never lies as they say and it showed there to be very little between us at the end of May.

Both sides have made changes since then, and at the moment, we've no idea how succesful those changes are going to have been, but there's one thing for certain - the changes haven't suddenly propelled us into a team that will finish 10 or more points ahead of them (which if we were streets ahead of them then we would).

IT will be a tight game. IT could go there way. IT could go our way.

The one big thing in our favour could be the crowd getting right behind the players, the players being boosted by it, rather than frightened by it, and getting right into them.

How's that the one certain?

I agree with the rest of that post.

I hate the Mags as much as everyone else but I can't believe how confident people are.

We are at home so have an advantage, but right now we are 2 very even teams.

I've also been calling colback and if you read my posts you'd have seen i said Vaughan and Colback are pretty much the same type of player. I just think experience prevails in a derby.

Its got to be about opinions but we've strengthen in key areas with players that have generally proved themselves in the league where as they've lost their best players and replaced them with players untested in the premier league.

Not overly confident of a win on Sat, but very confident over the course of the season we'll prove to be the better side.
