Sunderland v Gillingham 1987

gillingham fans were standing in the corner of the roker and in the seats behind us, we were not escorted our early and seen the gillingham players celebrating their win in front of us and the gillingham fans to our right and behind. Newcastle and gillingham fans in the seats (who were stretching down over the back of the paddock) were swapping scarves after the game at the back of our paddock, where we were singing gillingham songs and they were singing newcastle. We were then kept in the concourse under the clock stand for about an hour before our escort to seaburn...never seen any bother on the whole day

I was in the Roker End, in the middle bit next to the small corner section, next to the Clockstand Paddock. You were all taken out (150 to 200 or so) and some/all were put into police vans and taken up to Seaburn before the end of the match. Sunderland didn't come out until the end, as we needed another goal. As a young daft lad we tried to get up to Seaburn station, but the police had the roads (and the back route from the Cambridge up to the Bluebell) blocked off. However, they may have put some of you in vans and hid the rest all under the stand to fool us! But you were all taken out of the paddock before the end. I remember events clearly and I can even tell you that there was the odd sight of an old couple (must have been in their late 70s) put in with your lot. Fair play for turning up, but like your visit in 85 you were all on your toes and bricking it ;)

Definitely a wind up. Not even a mag could be as daft as you :lol::lol:

A thread to bookmark under 'obsession by Mags'. Interesting that the Strawberry has displayed such ignorance of both grounds. Genuine plastic toon keyboard warrior it would appear - nee great surprise.

Herd it was 52,000:lol:....Oh thats our home crowd every week;). Just so you know that is banter.

Fuck me the start of this thread is like a bad version of the Price Is Right.
I'd say about 1000
200 at the very very most
About 2-300
I reckon about 400

You'll notice the 1000 was a mistake. It was meant to say 100. Like I said, fuck off back to Skunkers

i was in the roker end that day right next to the gillingham fans, remember mags giving it the big one waving toon shirts, they were given there own section in the clock stand paddocks,i would say no more than 100 of them.

This, I reckon there was about 25-50 in with the away fans, plus another 100 or so in the paddocks.

Oh aye it clearly shows them getting 'punched' onto the pitch

Where's the link to Mackems in the Leazes End then?

I took the Leazes End when I was 13. Fcukin nails me.

Note, I was with a few thousand other Sunderland supporters at the time.

Remember outside three or four mag youngn's saying to copper on horseback help when they were shitting themselves outside the main stand and the copper was saying 'why have you come here'

Its a well known fact that every mag that has ever lived was at that match. Anyone who disagrees is either stupid or in denial.

Some rewriting of history on this thread;)

About 200 in the clock stand paddocks (including me) with the gillingham fans behind us. We were kept in till the ground was clear then were escorted with the gillingham fans to Seaburn where the platform had been cleared to get the train home.

Never saw any bother in or outside of the ground.
