I love the way we go over old ground time and again :) They made themselves known and then got booted out of the Fulwell. The walked down the clockstand being dicks and getting covered in spit and bottles. The only reason they did not get a hell of a hiding is because the Clockstand paddock was about 5 foot under pitch level and didn't we have those git big fences back then on top of that ?

Yes we did. I was in the Clock Stand that day and the amount of ching-chinging off the fences as the coins rained down was like someone hitting the jackpot in Vegas.

The ball boys could hardly move for the amount of cash weighing down their pockets.

Someone hoyed a full unopened can of coke that whistled centimetres past the linesman's head. I swear it would have killed him if it had hit.

aye fences were up.

the aim was to stop people getting on te pitch and causing trouble so suppose they worked alright that day.

I was at the match and your lot couldn't get out quick enough. Why are you all streaming out down the front if you took the Fulwell. Why does that video show just one mag standing his ground as the the Fulwell to the right is surging forward. Where are your lads fighting on that video. The same NME who were still wearing NCB donkey jackets in 1986
Are you alright mate? You seem to be having a meltdown comparable to a Japanese nuclear reactor here. Has this touched a nerve?

Was it fuck 1500. 200 at the very very most. Coppers hearded them into clockstand paddocks corner next to the roker end. They had about 5 yards of terracing.

1500 would have been half of the paddock FFS

Two coaches from Washington/Gateshead - 100 at the most and they scarpered when the full time whistle went. They weren't given their own section - the police kettled them for their own safety with the Gills behind them in the clockstand seats.

There were about 150 to 200 Mags in the Clock Stand paddock. About 5 minutes before the end of normal time they were escorted out of the ground, presumably to Seaburn Station.

Thats about it.

This

more absolute bullshit from a mackem denier who wasn't there. we were there till the very end and at least an hour after. The Gillingham fans were celebrating with us from behind in the seats and we swapped scarfes after the game in the concourse under the stand. the police kept us in for our own safety and we were definately there till the end of the match you f***ing bullshitter:oops:

yesterday you said the Gillingham fans were in the corner of the Roker next to you. Swapping scarves ffs, you've got to be a wind up :lol::lol:

Most Geordies I no were 'at this game' by means of the Geordie generator Id say they must have had maybe 10,000. Similar amount to the waiting list

As earlier posters have stated 150-200 maximum, they were in the Clockstand Paddock towards the Roker End,i was in the Fulwell that day and there wasn't a peep from any in there,we walked down past the Clockstand after the game and you could hear them singing inside,if i had a quid for every mag i've heard say he was there i'd have £31,854.

This ^^^^^^

and if you include the Wrexham game in 1979 when the skunks only had 7000 at home then I would have the grand total of 1 million pand

just for context, how many of our fans were obsessed enough to go to Villa Park two years ago?

None? right, so that settles who's obsessed more about their rivals.

This.
I was there and from what I can remember there was a few in that corner with the Gillingham lot and they were shitting themselves by the look of it.
Can't remember them getting a pasting after the match but there was chaos with the coppers and stuff.

The Mags couldn't get out the ground quick enough. Sunderland lads were climbing the fence and dropping down from the seats to get at them and their f***ing arses were dropping big style. They obviously realised it wasn't such a good idea afterall. The coppers either realised they would be dead if they kept them in or the Mags asked to be taken out. I got one of them with a pearler off the head just as he was leaving. Must have been like being in a coconut shy with all the coins raining down :lol::lol:

more lies I see whatawasteofapost...the gillingham fans were in the seats behind the paddock not mackems & there were none trying to get at us

gillingham fans were standing in the corner of the roker and in the seats behind us, we were not escorted our early and seen the gillingham players celebrating their win in front of us and the gillingham fans to our right and behind. Newcastle and gillingham fans in the seats (who were stretching down over the back of the paddock) were swapping scarves after the game at the back of our paddock, where we were singing gillingham songs and they were singing newcastle. We were then kept in the concourse under the clock stand for about an hour before our escort to seaburn...never seen any bother on the whole day

can you remember what the flag had on it in the mainstand at the end of the game geordie ?

thats true support for you , at that point you would have realised sunderland fans are some of the best in football.

Anyone have an irrationale dislike of Gillingham since then, or it it a case of not giving a shit?

Remember being happy that they lost to Swindon in the play off final but never really gave a thought to them since.

Then a few years ago, when I was at a loose end and read a skunk fanzine (True Faith? Mag?) there was a letter in from a Gillingham fan or fans whose club was going through a hard time and they were asking for help from Scum fans. Mentioned the play-off game as a reason for the skunks to give them support. Then I realised that I wanted them to go under.:)

Couple of hundred max.

Bad memories all round that day. Still remember Keith B celebrating his goal like we won the cup.
