Sunderland v Gillingham 1987

I got the train over from Heworth, the coppers at Seaburn asked for NUFC to make themselves known - most of the passengers were mags - there was only a handful of SAFC on that train and I had no idea we were among them lot so they can't have been showing colours.

The had a few in the Gillingham end (100 or so I reckon) and were given one small section in the Clock Stand Roker side - probably about 200 in there.

at last a mackem speaks the truth...this was exactly what happened on our train. We didn't make ourselves known so don't know what happened to those that did...was worried they might send us straight back home. We went in the fullwell end untill some time just after kick off after we heard the blaydon races from the clock stand paddock. We told the fuzz we werer mags and had been threatened (we were only 14). They took us thru the clock stand under the seats to the far end and we went down into the paddock. Couldn't see how big the paddock was but I know one thing, it was f***ing rammed. Took ages to get down to the front

Remember it vividly mate, I was shocked at Seaburn station. I remember the mags and Gillingham fans lauding it up together at us.

I was in the Mainstand paddock Roker side. They were opposite me in the clockstand paddock, not that many but they were definitely there unfortunately.

Yep I remember this too - I was probably so raging thats why I can still remember it now.

clock stand paddock roker end, in corner near the gillingham fans with more gillingham fans behind us in the seats. Anyone who denies this (as many have on here including wally)...was not there

What happened after the game, was there a lot of bother, or did the Police ensure that the Skunks were held well back after the final whistle?

we were held back for a good while then escorted to seaburn station. Some fans were singing "ha ha ha he he he sundlands in division 3" but the police were going off it with them saying we are here for your own safety

Were you fuck there Raspberry your about 15. Or I would hope you are, judging by your posts on this board.

Oh dear f***ing me. There's bravado and then there is shite. You f***ing stinK youngin

I'd say about 1000 were there. Can't remember them being given their own section, just trying to get in where they could.

give ower man we were in seats above them and there was 200 tops. The section they were in had Sunderland in it that's why it kicked off. They got taken out to a shower of coins from above and the side :lol::lol:

Spot on, around 200!

And Gillingham had 1,000 in the big corner of the Roker, and a hundred or so in the clockstand seats...above those who came to dance on the grave!

There was between 100 - 200 no more , i was in clock stand paddock section closest to them . Gillingham fans in corner section where scoreboard was. Scum is what they were then + nowts changed . Hate them.

Like everyone else says the ones that were seperated out were in the Roker end of the Clock Stand paddock, next to where they used to put the away fans under the old scoreboard. A few hundred a most.

There may have been others dotted about but if there were they didn't make themselves known.

I also heard rumours at the time of Darlo being there in the Roker. Dunno if thats bollocks or not.

Despite the outcome, Benno's goal is still one of my great Roker Park memories. There seemed to be a split second of silence as the the ball looped in the air and then pandemonium when it dropped in.

I was towards the back left of the Fulwell and ended up about 20 yards away from where I'd started jumping about when it all calmed down.

Lies lies from tiny eyes. You got absolutely nothing right. You must have been the only one left in the ground because the coppers took you out the ground long before the end. We were gutted because we wanted the kernts big style. Stop making a bellend of yourself

Gillingham were in the big corner of the Roker, next to the Main Stand. We were in the Mainstand Roker wing paddock, and there were 2 mags in amongst the Gillingham fans, one of them was making an arse of himself by revealing his scruffy black and white top under his even scruffier denim jacket.
The rest of the mags were directly opposite us in the clockstand paddock. Basically, the far end of the paddock nearest the Roker end, was sectioned off and often used to house away fans. The first section housed about 800 and immediately alongside it, was an overflow section, which probably housed about 300. The mags were put in the overflow bit. Must admit it was packed, a good 300, or 302 if you include the 2 gimps in with the Gillingham lot.

Just noticed I put 1000  It was meant to be 100.

There's not a chance in hell Strawberry was there as it would make him 34 now and in reality he's about 15.

Aye reeto:roll:

Reeto to what?

I've no reason to lie. The following season I was there when you beat someone 7-0 and spent a great day and night in York; still got the red ticket stub for that one. Oh, I was at The Milk Cup Final game as well.

I wasn't there to gloat but did have a chuckle.

Aey its a good while back so cant really say for deff where Gillingham fans were just know for certain them scummy bastards were near us as the smell downwind of them was sickening.

The Mags couldn't get out the ground quick enough. Sunderland lads were climbing the fence and dropping down from the seats to get at them and their f***ing arses were dropping big style. They obviously realised it wasn't such a good idea afterall. The coppers either realised they would be dead if they kept them in or the Mags asked to be taken out. I got one of them with a pearler off the head just as he was leaving. Must have been like being in a coconut shy with all the coins raining down :lol::lol:
