There was between 100 - 200 no more , i was in clock stand paddock section closest to them . Gillingham fans in corner section where scoreboard was. Scum is what they were then + nowts changed . Hate them.

no, they were in the section near the Main Stand - the section under the scoreboard was kept empty

Never heard Blaydon Races at all, and don't remember the escort of any mag fans from the Fulwell End to the Paddocks. And I was there that day. You sure you're not making that bit up, or thinking of the 1984/85 derby where there were fans escorted into the paddocks from the Fulwell?? I'll be charitable and assume the latter, although I'll hold my hands up and admit I'm wrong if any other non-Mag posters say this happened, because I can't remember that.

there was no escort and I didn't say there was. It was me and my mate eddy (we were 14) and we told a copper we were newcastle fans after hearing the blaydon races & he took the 2 of us to the paddock you pleb

I wonder if there was any chance in the near future of the scum going in to Div 2 {the one below the Ch'ship} whether our lads would do the same and go thru there and support whoever they were playing ??

The scum in 87 must have been very confident of getting an escort because the way people felt after being relegated, someone could easily have been killed such was the absolute HATRED felt by all SAFC fans that day towards the scum.

Our hatred of them was defo taken to a whole new level that day that has failed to subside.

things have changed since them days though in regards of getting into big matches. Its mostly season ticket holders and tickets bought in advance. Plus with all seater stadiums its easier to be isolated and there is less chance of disappearing into a big standing terrace. I must say there was no mention beforehand that we were gonna be given our own section at joker park for the match & me and my mate were certainly not part of some big organised "invasion". We just went on the off chance...im sure juveniles got in for a quid or a couple of quid or something daft like that, it couldn't have been much cause I didn't get much pocket money

The rivalry has certainly heightened since that day.

well if you talk to people who went to the games in the 70's and early 80's, they say that the rivalry is no where near as intense as it was at derby games back then...there is hardly any bother now to speak of (proper bother)

They were proper derby games though. You could go to the match on the Saturday afternoon, kick shit out of each other before or after the game, go to work on the Monday morning and shake hands and leave it till the next game. Now it's covered by the media a hell of a lot more and it spills over into work, friendships and sometimes family.

please just fuck off :lol::lol::lol:

I was at a party at xmas. One of the other guests was a copper, a high ranking one who is high profile. I don't know him, he was a relative of the host. He told me that a few years ago the Necastle hooligans organised a trip to the Ivy House on a derby day. He says the plod were taken by surprise when they received a phone call from a terrified Sunderland fan begging them to send loads of police to the Ivy because Newcastles firm were going wild.

To cut a long story short, the call was traced to one of the well known Newcastle hooligans mobile phone. They had turned up by stealth to get some headlines and had started to panic when they heard that their Sunderland cousins were on the way to meet them, but no police had arrived to surround the pub.

That tells me everything I need to know about how these arseholes think and behave. All propoganda and no action.

You know I was there in the Fulwell - so chossed off I hardly noticed their fans.

I also threatened never to go back - I had enough - that was it - and missed 4 games in total the next season which turned out to be one of the best seasons following the lads

Typical Sunderland - wait a hundred years or so - find a league we were good in - and get out straight away:lol::lol:
