I'd say about 1000 were there. Can't remember them being given their own section, just trying to get in where they could.

I know that 50,000 mags claim they were there but there were undoubtedly some.

How many mags do people reckon were there?

This Ebay item claims 1500 and they were given their own section? That last bit at least is utter bollocks isn't it? Or has my memory gone?

Was it fuck 1500. 200 at the very very most. Coppers hearded them into clockstand paddocks corner next to the roker end. They had about 5 yards of terracing.

1500 would have been half of the paddock FFS

Spot on, around 200!

And Gillingham had 1,000 in the big corner of the Roker, and a hundred or so in the clockstand seats...above those who came to dance on the grave!

I was in the Fulwell with my Sland mate. There was a good few knocking around, there were Ncle fans there who didn't make themselves known.

So not much difference between this and 2 years earlier, when they shouted 'United', then broke the landspeed record to get onto the pitch?

i was in the paddock next to them there was probably 200 of them in there, i spotted a barcode from the school i formerly went to he was obviously a gremlin well he was an ugly fekker anysways! no way should them footy top stained retards been allowed in but thet did get coined so i suppose thats some consolation

mag at work (who went) reckons around 700.

edit: said a group of around 400 were all rounded up and put in the paddocks. rest dotted about.

there were one or two in the Roker (with us)....no colours so melted away at first sign of contretemps.

I was in the Roker End. Years later at the 'no away fans' game I stood in exactly the same spot.

I got the train over from Heworth, the coppers at Seaburn asked for NUFC to make themselves known - most of the passengers were mags - there was only a handful of SAFC on that train and I had no idea we were among them lot so they can't have been showing colours.

The had a few in the Gillingham end (100 or so I reckon) and were given one small section in the Clock Stand Roker side - probably about 200 in there.

I was 10 and there with me fatha in the Roker end, we left early, looking back I reckon me fatha got wind of possible bother.
Always remember the roar when we were up beside the Pie shop on our way home, we had scored but it still wasn't enough, I cried

biele, is this hearsay or did you see them? I don't remember this at all....I was at the back of the Roker mind, and remember cheering from the gills but nothing from the clock paddock.

I was there that day. 1500 is a ludicrous claim. There was probably around 2-300 based in the Paddocks, and a few more in the corner of the Roker (nor sure about the last bit, seem to remember some Skunk with a flag, but my mind might be playing tricks on me). It certainly contributed to the poisonous rivalry that exists nowadays.....don't think it was as bad before then.

Not a great day to be a Sunderland fan to put it mildly but at least the Skunks monetary contribution that day helped our promotion push the following season.:)
