*~*~* Sunderland v Blackburn match thread *~*~*

No idea how we've managed to go in a goal up at half time but fair play to the lads.
Great to see Ba with a bit of confidence in him after a little run of games.
We definitely need to find a way of keeping that Szmodics quiet. Hopefully we can kick on and grab another goal or two in the second half.

I can't remember if he went charging over and ended up off the pitch when he gave it up thinking it was heading out. So he could be the one who kept them onside, but lack of replays isn't helping.
He’s definitely at LB when the cross comes in & he’s my “best bet” for playing him on. but you’re right the angles are horrendous.

Not sure how we’re ahead after the first 15 minutes or so and at times we were incredibly easy to cut through.

That said the resilience of this group is fantastic.

Mowbray will need to use the subs well

TM needs to earn his bread now. Fortune has favoured us but we can’t have another 45 minutes like that.

We’ve played like an U10s team. No one wanting to defend or hold the shape and everyone wanting to rush forward.
Agree … if we do we’l lose

Bellingham’s getting better each game
He’s some talent
Worst game I’ve seen him have so far although he had a decent spell at the back end of the half. First 30 mins he was all over the shop. Pressing far too high and turned way too easily leaving us wide open. Looked like a 17 year old today imo.

Physically and technically though he’s way above his age.

He is but bit worrying we’re putting too much emphasis into a 17 year old, both physically and mentally. Need to make sure we rest him properly and things or he’ll be burnt out by October
I think he will get some rest soon, I think Dack and Ekwah being unavailable has thrown a spanner in the works for rotation. Once Burstow is more up to speed as well.
A proper run of games has been great for him though, he's come on a lot since August.

The resilience in this side is unreal. Under the cosh and diving into everything. Then going on the offensive, scoring, getting pegged back and scoring again. No matter what happens tonight I'm so proud of hoe this team plays.
They're fearless. Love their attitude.

Worrying how many pockets of space they were picking up between defence and midfield. Big second half. Hawaay.
yep. it wasn't a case of forcing them wide and overloading the central areas to stop them playing between the lines. they were getting in behind and carving us open through the middle. fortunate not to have conceded more
