*~*~* Sunderland v Blackburn match thread *~*~*

Bellingham and Pritchard are playing ridiculously high and leaving Dan Neil all by himself trying to stop attacks. It's an impossible job.
I think he’s preferring to push Luke in now and then but it’s risky.
We were wide open there and down our left flank.

TM needs to earn his bread now. Fortune has favoured us but we can’t have another 45 minutes like that.

We’ve played like an U10s team. No one wanting to defend or hold the shape and everyone wanting to rush forward.

At the game.

Penalty looked soft. Theirs looked offside.

Lucky to be ahead.

With regards their goal is impossible to tell on TV. Camera couldn't see the attacker until the cross was a few yards from him long after the cross was hit.

Really enjoyed that. That is what makes Championship a good league to watch. Two decent, young teams trying to play football and very even. They are very quick abd clever with passing and movement. Our individuals are dagerous when they get space.
We showed signs of getting used to it as half wore on and were having more success. We rode a lot of luck at times but need to credit team for sticking at it.

To those who are saying we have been "shit"....sometimes you have to credit the opposition as well. I don't know a lot about their players but believe that they are a young team as well? If so, their youth coaching must be good because they played some lovely stuff.
As someon esaid above, Dan Neil has been left alone too much. To play the way he has and also get a goal shows how he has developed as a player.

Bellingham’s getting better each game
He’s some talent

Agree. But he’s clearly better going forward than he is doing the defensive side of the game. At least at this stage, while he’s still learning.

Neil is having a very lonely, busy night in front of the back four so far.
