I rated Cattermole very highly and defended him repeatedly against folks on here, and yes his passing was great, but he's not a "try to dribble round opponents" style of player, he's a "get the ball and then give it to someone else" kind of player, of which we also had Power, McGeouch, Leadbitter, Robson, Mumba. Loads of similar type of player and none of the other.

I don't have time right now to discuss the rest so let's just agree to disagree. :)

That's the point!

Is Dobson?

I'd put Dobson in that exact same bracket. I'm not even particularly annoyed that Dobson is the player we've signed to replace Cattermole, but why you're trying to pass him off as anything other is beyond me.

They couldn't even do that though. It was our lowest finish ever. At present, we're on course to outdo ourselves in that respect yet again.

Oh I’m sorry, I forgot they walked into a well ran and functional football club at the start of last season.

They inherited a squad of players that included Lee Cattermole, Bryan Oviedo, Adam Matthews, Aiden McGeady the bestest everest player the division has ever seen, Lynden Gooch, Josh Maja, George Honeyman and Donald Love, all but one of whom have played Premier League football. Their target was promotion. They failed.

The club absolutely was functional.
We're 18 months into their tenure, with two full summers and a January window gone, and we're at the lowest point in the club's entire history.
We have the best stadium in this division and the one above.

We have the best training ground in this division and the one above.

We have better crowds than anyone in this division and probably even the one above.

We were given a clean slate from which to start, debt free, and apparently have/had the biggest most enviable budget of whatever description happens to suit the owners when they want to start boasting about it.

Where we find ourselves now and going forward has an awful lot to do with their stewardship, regardless of how shambolic things were beforehand.

They also inherited a squad of players that included wankers like Ndong, Djilobdji and Kone.

You are utterly delusional.

It was no fault of the current owners that we were relegated to League 1. You should blame the previous regime for that son.
All about context. Pre season last year was a joke. Amount of players wanting out was a joke. I’m surprised we actually competed to be honest. This season though, different. If we are not top 2 then big questions must be asked and it will be a failure.

Well said.

Before a ball was kicked last year I’d have took 5th place given the state the club was in.

Did I say it was like ya gonk?

They inherited a few players who were away regardless, so what. Happens everytime a club is relegated.

Na mate, I don’t slag off fans. I slag off people criticising the club for no reason.

You started a similar thread laying into Ross outers. Same criticisms, same tone to the post. Maybe you could try to accommodate the views of posters who have deep concerns about how SAFC is being run, rather than just taking pops at them?

I stand by my Ross post. Why do you have deep concerns about the club? Because people online told you Donald’s is a grave robbing fraud? If facts come out to show I’m wrong, no problem whatsoever. Until then, I’ll deal in facts

Not at all. I said before Ross was sacked that I was fine with SD, but that my view may change if he didn’t sack Ross soon.
He’s done that, so as far as I’m concerned I’m content for now.

However, we’re mid table in L1 and managerless. It’s not making me feel optimistic. The gossip is of no consequence to me. It’s grim enough without all the rumours flying around.
