Yes! we've known each other all our lives, daft as a ships cat but a very astute intelligent man. ;)

They could try using some of the near £90 million they have stashed in the bank.
That's right, £90 million.

Would imagine what its being used to avoid making redundancies.
Having looked at last years accounts
they have £172m invested
£8m overdraft
£148m in borrowing

I make that £16m

Funny how I started this thread today, and for the first time ever I opened the door to the Tory bloke running for council...i asked what he was gonna do for the town centre.....the old fucker just said well we need to attack from the top......thats no fooking answer, i asked if there was a lib dem guy running but he said pointless voting him as he never gets any votes.....i guess i will vote tory which is odd but am that sick of labour.

Try again, this isn't part of last years accounts but a fund they have set aside.

Source, or is this one of your usual things you've made up.
However there is a reserve of £50m for future developments unless thats what your on about

I see Florance Anderson has been selected to stand for relection to the city council again.

Wilson is a class bloke, and really cares about where he was born, he got Tony Robinson and his time team up to investigate the area around Hylton Castle. Also founded an organisation called "Friends of Hylton Dene" to stop the scum destroying it.

Denny always comes over as a top lad who really cares about the area, me old fella gave him some grief the other day about the council tax thing but he would piss in if he stood as an independant !

Is the correct answer!

Our Labour councillors are selected by Labour North in Gosforth on the basis they have the intelligence and ability of an amoeba. Sunderland City council is ran by a clique of Tynesiders who consider our city to be an irrelevance - but are happy for us to pay their fat salaries.

You may mock but look at the evidence. Even our Deputy Leader of the Council Florance Anderson is a died-in-the-wool Geordie who was recently censored by the Standards Board for writing "F*uck Sunderland on her Facebook account. Then you have the likes of Peter Walls, Newcastle born & bred, who is the man behind Gentoo - an organisation that destroyed large swathes of our council house stock creating a massive housing problem and booting many locals out homes they had spent all their working lives paying for.

Then you have the head of transport - another Geordie who thinks the Monkwearmouth Gyratory and the one way system through the centre of town is wonderful.

Until the people of Sunderland boot out these feckless Labour councillors, many of whom have spent decades on the council and achieved absolutely nothing to show in that time, and replace them with a new generation of councillors committed to Sunderland our city will continue in its downward spiral until there is nothing worth saving and any potential this town has is gone for good.

f***ing hell Dom give over !

I'm nearly pissing myself here man.

Do you know what your council tax is spent on?

It's a stupid comment to make considering the amount of people in Sunderland on council tax benefit that the employed already subsidise, if the amount was a graded system based on income and not your property then he might have a point, but a lot of the jobs are poorly paid in the region and for those people the council tax is already a fair old kick in the stones.

given the pending local elections, this thread should remain on the front, I believe.

anyone got a link to the spreadsheet showing where our council tax goes to?

err....... it's actually all true. Labour as a politcall party are going nowhere fast! Labour should be out of sight in the polls but they are not - any increase in the numbers of councils Labour control after this years local elections will be an anti-coalition vote, not an endorsement of Labour's policies. It will be years before we see another Labour government - if there is one.

about 4

I blame the introduction of the Kilos and grams. ;)

Seemingly he does not do answers. Just insults.

The shopkeeping fraternity of Sunderland city centre have long given up trying to get answers from the shower of shit that calls itself Sunderland City council, you obviously thinks we all just arrived last week and set business, you really haven't a clue about the situation, just like your mate listless narative, when you've been around town and spoken to all the shop owners about their concerns then make your comment, untill then keep your clueless thoughts to yourself.

Potty mouth. Have you considered a customer service course? The council might even run one you could go on.
What is it you sell that the people of Sunderland want but are prevented from buying by the council?
Hopefully nothing a numb twat like you would want, but you also have shown what a two faced turncoat you are by choosing to do your shopping in Leeds as you've quoted, instead of showing some support for the shops where you live, and if what you wanted wasn't available here I hear you cry, then ask your council buddies why there's been a lack of investment in the city to such an extent that we'll be lucky to persuade anyone to invest here ever again, but with any luck David Cameron will put you and your mates out of work, as he's determined to rid us of people who do sweet fa for a living, we'll see if you can afford to go to Leeds to do your shopping then.

"Do you know what your council tax is spent on?" is the question I asked.

The Police force, Fire service, street cleaning (or not as the case may be) and the Civic Centre job farce, amongst other things, a more pertinant question would have been do you know where the council wastes your council tax on, and the answer I got from some of them that work there is, themselves, most of them think they could cut that workfarce by at least a third and still be able to run it efficiently, so with any luck you'll be on the dole shortly.

Can't argue with any of that.
