Not in Sunderland they won't because the turnout will be very small - certainly under 30%. If the crowd at a average home game all voted for SMB candidates the SMB could takeover the running of the council completely. Someone should recruit about 10 "SMB Party" representatives from on here and stand for election in the 10 wards where Labour are strongest - they'd crap themselves.

And the Polls may have Labour if front but they are a million years away from ever getting back into power nationally. Under the Thatcher government Labour were regularly 20+ points ahead but got routed in three successive General Elections. Infact Labour are doing very badly - you'd expect them to be out of site in the Polls but some Polls have them as low as 1% in front of the Tories because people hold Balls, Miliband etc accountable for the cuts.

National polls mean nothing, aye. But local election specific polls do.

Labour will make massive gains at these elections, with the tories struggling and the Lib Dems really suffering.

That paragraph contains falsities in every sentence. Well done.

seriously, how do you go about running for election? i take it it would require quite a lot of work?? i would vote for someone like me. what happened to Sunderland First or whatever they were called?

They could try using some of the near £90 million they have stashed in the bank.
That's right, £90 million.

They don't have to lose a single job, make a single cut and would still have £30 million over to invest in a major project, and that's for the next 3 years,IE: the whole length of the governments austerity drive.

Is your mate Denny?

Yes! we've known each other all our lives, daft as a ships cat but a very astute intelligent man. ;)

err....... it's actually all true. Labour as a politcall party are going nowhere fast! Labour should be out of sight in the polls but they are not - any increase in the numbers of councils Labour control after this years local elections will be an anti-coalition vote, not an endorsement of Labour's policies. It will be years before we see another Labour government - if there is one.

Potty mouth. Have you considered a customer service course? The council might even run one you could go on.
What is it you sell that the people of Sunderland want but are prevented from buying by the council?

Have you possession of your family brain cell today ? you must have to be sticking up for your council pals again, your inadequacy clearly manifests itself every time you come out with the same old shopkeeping jibes, you obviously fail to realize that even a shit for brains like you need shops.

I blame lazy shopkeepers. If they took a bit more pride in their shops and tidied up a bit it would be a far more pleasant place to shop. We need innovators not backward neandarthals with anger management issues. I wish I could be shit at my job then hide behind the council and wacky conspiracy theories to cover for my inadequacies.

I blame the introduction of the Kilos and grams. ;)

Seemingly he does not do answers. Just insults.

I really think a few learned-types on here could get together a genuine party that would be able to challenge the council on every sodding issue that they've collectively ballsed up over the last few decades.

I wouldn't be surprised if RTG has more followers that care about Sunderland than actually vote in the local elections.

The SMB party doesn't sound too great ... but the "Ready To Go Party" (?) - hmmmm, I'm not that sure either.

If it went to a vote, it would end up being "Chebs" or something!

Yawn

Labour North suspended the sunderland candidate selection committee some time ago - ask Denny Wilson who selects who stands and he'll confirm its Labour North.

Sunderland has a new, committed group who have formed a local branch of the Green Party. They are 'of the Left' and if you don't want to vote Labour but can't face voting Tory, Lib Dem or whoever vote Green as a protest.

Wilson was a breath of fresh air to the Labour council but he was always going to be too forthright for the fuckers.
Remember one incident when he was shop steward on the rigs he organised a meeting and stood on a load of pallets with a balloon in his hand, called the meeting to order, put the ballon to his mouth and started talking like Donald Duck.
It was full of f***ing helium.

Why so angry? I'm trying to help you here.
I realise the need for shops whether the online type or the real life ones with an Arkwright behing the counter insulting the customers. What I'm struggling to understand is what is preventing you from selling your wares?
I know you have a problem with litter but your very username glorifies high profile littering. What am I to think?
You are an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, trapped in a discarded pizza carton.
Don't pull down your piss stained shutters on the SMB, let us in and let us help you. We could be your Mary Queen of Shops.
I know about shops coz I'm git cosmopolitan, I've even been to Leeds today.

I vote Monster Looney Raving Party - have done every election even if they are not on the ballot paper I still right them down
