Hendon has had a few thousand pounds spent it - big deal!
The plans for the Metro extension were drawn up years before Labour were put in government in 1997 as was The Bridges extension.
BIC was developed under a Conservative government
Regeneration of the Riverside. Whereabouts? Roker Marina, North Sands, North Hylton etc were development under a Conservative government.
Bus station planned under the Tories.
Southern Relief Road planned under the Tories - took a decade to build.
University expanded and redeveloped under the Tories.
Doxford Park was an enterprise zone built under the Tories.
Thats leaves us with Sunniside - I'm quite happy for Labour to take the "credit" for that mess.
So you see Bongo is correct when he states that just about every regeneration project in Sundrland is the product of a Conservative government. It only took six weeks for them to reach an agreement for the Vaux site after the Coalition was formed last May - oh and they provided £20m in funding to buy it.

And what's so f***ing funny about that ? if you lived/worked in Sunderland city centre you'd think the same way, why else aren't they fighting for investment then ? if Seaham f***ing harbour can get investment then there can only be one reason they are not investing in Sunderland city centre, which has a bigger population to cater for, and would bring more money in than Seaham.
I blame Tesco's. They are taking over the world.
It's just because Seaham is f***ing shite.![]()
For the first time in my life I ain't voting labour at the locals.
Let's hope I'm not the only one.

Cllr Sheila Ellis
Cllr Dennis Richardson
Cllr Kathryn Rolph
I'm not being funny or anything but... Is Sheila Ellis "special"?
On a more serious note. Whats always gets on my tits about the majority of voters in Sunderland is that they have zero idea about any current policies or future plans... All I seem to hear is "Thatcher closed the pits, im never voting conservative" ... "Vote Labour, the conservatives put my dad/grandad out of a job in the 80's" ... FFS get over it..
Things change. We want what's best for our city. We need to start electing people that care, that want Sunderland to come out of the darkness and most importantly.. Don't want to line their own pockets !
Does anyone know what council records are publicly available? I'm trying to find out exactly what they have been spending OUR money on. We need to make people fully aware of what is going on at the civic.
For example.. The huge speaker system things near John street... pumping out bird noises all day, costing 100k's and taking 6 months to build.
What about the Green Party? - they now have an offficial presence in Sunderland and are fielding 7 candidates in the Locals next month.

Yes, all spending over a certain level is on the council website - it takes a bit of finding but it's there - some very interesting payments. I started looking as we've been pricing work for the council for years without getting anywhere (despite working for just about every other council in the north east) - bearing in mind we are based in the Sunderland area, I was beginning to think that there was something going on, obviously, looking at the payments you can get a good idea as to who's being awarded contracts
Tesco's has very expensive lawyers. If they'd taken the council to court over it and won they'd have bankrupted the council.Tesco's are to blame but there's something to be said for a council that took 10 years before they considered a compulsory purchase. Any other town would have told Tesco to fuck off years ago.

same old bint said:i hope you don't have to go into hospital as since the condems got in waiting lists have gone up 25 % fact and please get it right PCT
sick of people putting this city down and the council take a look at newcastle council made thousands of people redundant run by lib dems south tyneside more redundant our city has kept them down to minimum only voluntary ones even with cuts of 58 million
we will all vote for tories and we get condems stop ema stop sure start take 100 pound off the old peoples winter fuel payment y i sting the poor y don't you 20% vat food prices over the top yes labour would have had to make savings bot not by taking of the most vulnerable the MPS should take a cut first and if they are millionaires they should not need the money
had a canny bite off her this morning:
i see the grammar is getting worse, must be an MP
Aye, I see she's banging on about hospital's again, ask her where the money's coming from when the country is skint, or maybe ask her where she'll do her shopping when this Labour council finally closes the city centre![]()
