It was illegal to be homophobic then mate. I would imagine any television programme showing homophobia would have been frowned upon. I would imagine the article was flavour of the month at that time as Scotland and Ireland had just de criminalised homosexuality.Not extremely offensive comments, but otherwise yes, why not?
