2-3 quality buys only for me- a centre midfield player who can play with his head up and not just run about and two forwards - i'd have Bent back as one of them although i'll be shot with shit for the idea.

Let them keep bent, personally I'd prefer Agbonlahor.

Sorenson - Free
Hutton - £5M?
Distin - Free
Figueroa - Free
Hoilett - Free
Diame - Free
Danny Murphy - Free
Andy Johnson - Free
Bendtner - £4M (reported fee anyways)
Agbonlahor - £5M?

Sell

Angeleri, Bardsley, Bramble, Gardner, Meyler, Elmohamady, Riveros and Gyan.
Release or get whatever we can from Carson, McCartney and any other shit players that are over the 21 "free space" limit in the squads.

Loan out
Mignolet (be able to get a canny fee for his loan), Pickford, Adams, Laing, Egan, Knott, Noble, Ji and Wickham.

A long shot like

ALOT more than £5m for gabby Agbonlahor marra, he's young English and fast. This, by the laws of football, makes him worth 2-3 times more than what he actually is. I'd hazard a guess between £8-12m

Of course we can afford to go to the next level. We just have to be more creative with how we pay players. You can still attract quality players without maxing out your wage bill. Win, goal and clean sheet bonuses will be a lot more enticing.

If we don't go to the next level, top 7, in the next 2-3 year, we've stagnated and that will be more unhealthy than 4-5 players on wages that don't match their ability.

Are you trying to suggest that bonuses are not declared as wage costs on the Accounts ?

That was based on slightly falling crowds, finishing 10th and poor sponsorship deals, though..

If (IF) we finish 8th, thats an extra £3-4 mill in income then last year...also about £1-1.75 mill income from the cup run, Gyan's transfer fee to come into account plus better sponsorship deals.

Next's years income should be at least 6-7 mill higher, IMO and we should have a better wages to turnover ratio...

2 places is 1.6 million

Need at least a full back and centre half anarl. Agree we need to replace Bent.

No. What I'm saying is that by adding incentive bonuses, clean sheet for GK's and defenders and scoring and win bonuses for midfielders then you'd be able to lob off maybe £5,000 in basic wages. Remember that unless the incentives are fulfilled then that money is saved by the club.

Bardsley, Bramble, Kilgallon (maybe), Elmo, Gardner (maybe), Carson, McCartney, Tounkara, Liddle and Bridge and Krygiakos back to City and Wolfsburg as well as Nosworthy's wages will take a big chunk off the wage bill published next time around.

like it or not, the likelihood is that Sessegnon will move on this summer. Add in the fact that Bendtner won't be signed permanently then there is the first priority - a new front pairing of some form or other.

For me, after that, the main thing to sort is a good quality, experienced and more physically imposing central midfielder. Whenever we've played Everton in recent season,s Fellaini has dominated us and no matter who we pick of the current lot in CM we've not one option to compete with him. And there are other games where we suffer the same sort of problem, especially away from home.

After that, a decent RM option is needed. Larsson is limited but has no competition for his place really.

That would pretty much do for now.

I think we should be looking at signing some experienced players as we did last summer with Brown & O'Shea. We've seen the difference they can make.

I'm not saying we could sign all of these, most are probably out of our reach but then again i didn't think we could attract the players mentioned above last summer.

Kuyt, Benayoun, J.S. Park, Berbatov, Kranjcar, Defoe

A few youngers players

Hoilett, Kalou, S. Fletcher, Sinclair, Miyaichi (loan)

Get rid of Gordon, Bramble, Gyan, Angeleri, Riveros and as people have mentioned, wouldn't be surprised to see Sessegnon leave.

Phil Jagielka

Why would he leave for the very club he beats every time?

And as for Jermain Jenas that you also mention. WTF?! Jermain is at a club that has arrived at a state where they can be reasonably sure of Europe every season.

Distin - Free

No way! I do not want an E***ton player pulling on a Sunderland shirt ever.

The squad needs to be 'pruned' of some existing players :-

OUT

Bendtner - Not signed following loan
Bridge - Not signed following loan
Kyrgiakos - Not signed following loan

Gordon - Contract expiry – not renewed
McCartney - Contract expiry – not renewed

Kilgallon – Not proven to be Premier League quality
Angeleri – Not proven to be Premier League quality
Riveros – Not proven to be Premier League quality
Elmohamady – Not proven to be Premier League quality
Carson – Not proven to be Premier League quality

Cook – Over 21 years old – not worth a squad place
Tounkara – Over 21 years old – not worth a squad place

Bramble – Needs a fresh start elsewhere

Gyan – Unlikely to return to SAFC – a cash generator
Richardson – Jack-of-all-trades, master of none – a cash generator
Sessegnon – Has he really settled in the UK – a sacrifice to the greater good and a significant cash generator

This would leave only 14 of the existing players aged over 21 years remaining. The should be supplemented with the following :-
IN

Declan Rudd (Goalkeeper) (Norwich City) - available on a Bosman and has some Premier League experience
Martin Kelly (Right-back/Centre-back) (Liverpool) - unlikely to shift Glen Johnson from the Liverpool team and they could need to generate some transfer income
Marcell Jansen (Left-back) (Hamburg) - a top quality player at an underachieving club, who could be attracted to trying his luck in the Premier League
Martin Olsson Left-back/Left-midfield) (Blackburn) - would provide genuine left-back/left-wing cover
Ola Toivonen (Forward) (PSV Eindhoven) - a great player, physically suited to Premier League football and someone who would be a ‘good fit’ with SAFC and who could contribute with goals
Steven Fletcher (Forward) (Wolverhampton Wanderers) - has proven himself to be a Premier League standard goal-scoring forward and is, again, someone who would seem to be a ‘good fit’ with SAFC
David Hoilett (Forward) (Blackburn) - available on a Bosman and is a young player with significant Premier League experience

The question is what is the current level of this squad.

If you extrapolate the form over the whole season

Under Bruce-Relegation

Under MON-Champions League

Sigurdsson with Cattermole in the centre of midfield would be great. Add a fast right winger, a striker and a fullback or two and we're there. Also a loan would be a bonus.

Sigurdsson with Vaughan please NOT cattermole. That would be good.

Are you retarded, would never sell bardo and bramble, that would be going backwards. As for loaning out Mignolet and signing soreson, you must be on something there mate, Mignolet is young and been great for us this season, why would we disregard such a good asset especially for a keeper like Sorenson who is well past it and cant regulary get in a team like stoke!

Realistically I'd like us to ship the deadwood first n maybe look at what oniell went for at villa.
Young British players seem to hold their value n short may let him spend shrewdly based on that model.
If that's the case, Rhodes, hoilet (nt british) Phillips would be steady value etc.

Can't see us purchasing anyone from CSKA like, that's just chatting nonesence.
Dream signing would be llorente. Although yakubu when he's interested is hard to look past

Not as if we can tell Marty who to have a look at but it doesn't stop me from suggesting players who have impressed me in the champions league.

MoN wont make wholesale changes... more like 4 or 5 players max to bolster the squad and push for top 6

Its a amount of money we cant afford to gamble with, where do people think this money comes from? On trees or something ffs

Better players command big transfer fees with better wages, how the fuck can we afford it when we are already losing money hand over fist.

Have we learned fuck all from Portsmouth, Rangers, Leeds who have tried to build a impossible dream with money there dont have or can afford to spend

We are not dealing with Monopoly money here

We are on a safe footing thanks to Niall Ellis and Bruce. You are taking facts and figures from the year ending April 2011.

And what does 7th get you money wise, a extra couple of million

To get us there and keep us there will tale more than a extra couple of million a season, Villa, Everton and failed to maintain top 6-7 places because they cant afford it. Why would Sunderland be any different?

Fan base, managerial set up, academy product and scouting system. That will hopefully make us different.
