Sub 2 hour marathon attempt

Charlestonian

Midfield
A record should only count if there are no pace makers and the race is true run. The record should be disregarded if there is any evidence of pace making or other assistance and that includes having a timing car in front.
This fella has won everything there is to win, Olympic and world champion and has won every major city marathon that’s worth winning.

I don’t see any issue with him trying to push boundaries to see what he’s capable of.

Problem with doing it in a timed official event is you need the right course, right conditions and optimised training.

Well, I can dream that someone actually gains a record honestly. :D

Understood, but the record books should list assisted and unassited records.

It’ll be controlled by comparison to a normal marathon but he still has to cover that distance hitting that pace, shouldn’t be dismissed IMO.
Okay, but subject to my above comment.
