Strikers in jan

This.

The people in charge of our football club will not make any sizeable investments in players.
We were (roughly - transfermarkt) 7th in incoming expenditure behind
1 Leicester City (Parachute Payments)
2 Leeds United (Parachute Payments)
3 Coventry City (Sold Gyökeres for big money)
4 Southampton FC (Parachute Payments)
5 Stoke City
6 Middlesbrough FC (Sold Akpom for Decent Money)
7 Sunderland

And that's not including the new contracts for Ballard, Roberts etc

To say we dont make sizeable investments seems a little harsh.

Why haven’t you indicated we sold Stewart for big money yet did that for Boro and Coventry?

Compare our wage bill to others and I'd wager we're much lower than 7th.

Much of of summer "investment" is sat on the bench recently. Hardly a good sign.

Because we all know we sold Stewart? Which also happened to be the last day of the window, rather than earlier like the other two. I guess it does show the pattern the the big spenders either sell or are relegated teams.

We all knew Boro and Coventry sold their strikers.

We were in charge as to when we sold Stewart - could have done it earlier in the window but we made the decision not to do so.

You can’t argue with that. You could add that apart from Coventry who are a season or so ahead of us no one is coming from as far back.

The issue for me relates directly to the change in our strategy, moving away from ex players from Premiership clubs schooled in English football. Who have learned and been coached in the environment.

I keep saying the Clarke’s, Ballards, Cirkin, Robert’s, Ekwah, Huggins, etc. are all ex Premiership… Bellingham ex Championship.
Buying unproven foreign strikers who have never stepped foot in English football is fraught with risk. It’s going to take so much longer to get there, if they get there at all.
Mayenda looks a natural to me but we won’t see best of him till next season.
The other 2 could be out of British football within 12 months.
As for Burstow, I can’t quite work out what happened here. He just doesn’t look ready to lead the line yet, albeit clearly has quality, surely they could see that
