I don't know if the Chelsea result heightened everyone's expectations, or people are generally frustrated at conceding a late goal, but the negative reaction on here is quite surprising.
Everton are a very good side, great on the ball and their movement is something to be admired. We looked very good at times - the passing and movement in midfield (whilst not as good as v Chelsea) was impressive, but we lacked a bit of composure on the ball (Richardson, Turner, Henderson) and sometime seem to run out of ideas when plan a failed. I don't understand Gordon's insistence on hoofing the ball every time he is in possession (surely a throw out to wings is worth trying every now and then)
Welbeck was outstanding, Cattermole looked assured and is starting to get back to the player he was at the start of last season. Bent looked rusty, Henderson looked tired and Gordon a little bit nervy. All in all, we took a deserved point against an established Premier League team who have always had the Indian Sign over us.
Happy with a point, mildly frustrated that we couldn't hold on, but relieved that Everton don't have a Bent or Gyan up front as they would have buried that chance that Beckford missed.
Good match, strange reaction..........
