imo the man doesnt get enough praise for that.

Moyes fans wont agree but hed go up in my estimation if he just fecked off and admitted hed bitter off more than he can chew/has insufficient fire in his belly.

Destroying our club/fanbase.

There comes a point though where the cost of Option A outweighs the cost of Option B......it's probably too late to change manager and stay up but the first season in the Championship with the hefty parachute payment means it's possible to keep the bulk of your players (as Burnley did) and look to make the financial hit a one off by bouncing straight back. If however you stick with the failing manager and he fails to turn things around quickly the numbers start mounting up.....much less revenue, players needing to be sold etc. Paying Moyes off.....and there's nothing to stop us paying the miserable fucker monthly rather than all up front, could become a financial necessity.

I'd quite like Moyes to stay.

That's fair enough but surely you can see that there's very little evidence that he's still the same man who managed Everton and any hope that he can replicate what he did there is just that......hope....with no real empirical evidence.

I can see why some would think that but in my opinion they are harsh in there judgment. Considering the factors we haven't done badly under him in my opinion but of course we haven't over performed. There is no one I can think off realistically that suits our plight better than he.

Give him another transfer window. You cant lay the foundations in less than a season, its why our managers dont work out.

'Havent done badly?'

Were rock bottom, 6 points and 15 goals from safety, he didnt win in his first 10 league games was it? We went out of the cup to Burley whove beaten us twice in 3 outings, scoring 5 v our 1.

In relative terms, it's not that much.

Don't get this that footballers and managers should be altruistic and the rest of society keep as is???
If we had a player or manager that was doing really well then by your rationale we should let them go and ply their trade elsewhere and we remain uncompensated.
You cant have it one way and not the other.
Of course many of us are pissed off at the job moyes is doing, but we gave him a bumper contract and both parties have to abide to it despite the jumpers for goalposts brigade and their misplaced righteous indignation.
20=20 hindsight is all well and good but bruce, o'neill and now moyes had contracts and we were at the outset happy they were offered the job. That they all turned out shite is how the cookie crumbled

No it's not.....but it gives a club a little window of opportunity to maintain a squad for a short while and hope to bounce straight back.....once those payments stop its curtains for this club.....TV money in the Championship runs to about £3m a year.

Sacking the manager would knock a significant dent in that though. I can imagine our wage bill would be still pretty high, even in that league.

No Strachan doesn't get enough credit for waiving compensation.
Whatever shortcomings he has as a manager/coach, and however awkward he can be in dealing with the press and public, he has one thing totally missing in the modern game. A sense of inherent decency and inbuilt INTEGRITY.
If everyone had that what a better world it would be.

How much money do you think Moyes is on? Conservatively, I'd say £50k.

There's no way Short is paying £7.5m+ to bin him and I'd keep him even if you are relegated. Give him a chance to reshape the squad.

All about perspective I guess.

I wonder if short knows he is going to pump Moyes but now just thinks il sack him in the championship on his lesser rate saving a few million quid or if it's just fuck it il leave him in charge cos I forgot the relegation clause

To be fair, if Short had any sense (I know) he would have agreed a termination figure in the contract. It would still be a shit load of money (especially since it would probably also count as the compensation we'd be entitled to if he left having done well) but it isn't necessarily the case that you need to completely pay up a contract if such a clause exists
