It's not necessarily about re-inventing themselves but there should be and with most of the best bands there is a progression with successive albums where they stretch themselves and try different things. Oasis simply didn't do this and by the fourth album it just got very tired.
Don't get me wrong I don't hate Oasis they have some good songs but all this generation inspiring best band of the 90's bollox that people come out with just isn't true and I was 15 or so when supersonic came out so if they were to be a band of a generation then it would've been mine.
correct, thats cos Noel wouldnt let him do owt else apparently.

The Roses were like the Pistols. One class album which grabbed peoples attention and then...... nowt.
What the fuck is this obsession nowadays with bands supposedly needing to reinvent themselves for fear of becoming 'a pardody of themselves'??
What were they suppose to do, release a reggae album?
Nee wonder you get all these fannies jumping on the bandwagon of every single latest fresh new "amazing 'cos Zane Lowe told me so" band that comes along.

But even in there short spell (SR) There are some hidden gems in their small(ish) catalogue such as Driving South, So Young etc. The same cant be said for Oasis imo, apart from the 1st album maybe. Thats why also The Stone Roses are best left alone as it is, but Oasis carried on being shite for years after.

I dunno who selected the tracklisting for Oasis' best of but mine woulda been very different. As for the Stone Roses, even the most ardent fan would struggle to offer as much as an alternative because it simply doesn't exist (Love Spreads should be on there like).
