love both of them, but oasis shade it for me.

what noel writes about in definatly maybe rings true to me...

Roses, got 'Begging You' on currently as it happens (random playlist).. there is no Oasis listed in the playlist at all BUT somehow Rihanna has a couple tracks in there

I think Oasis Vs Roses is a shite comparison TBH,

Anyway, Joses K or Joy Division?

vastly over-rated.

'Second Coming' is far better than any Oasis album imho, and no theres nee white text anywhere.

But for the record I'd rather listen to Blur than either...

I quite liked Nevermind but it had been done before IMHO.

If I had been 15 when they were popular it would have been a different story.

He's one that has really passed me by. I need to listen to him because loads have recommended him but I've never got round to it.

PJ Harvey -no

Why not?

the guitar solo on tracks of my tears is outstanding. my favourite of any guitar solo and that includes Clapton, Gilmore, Hendrix and Gallagher (Rory, not the other Gallagher with the big eyebrows)

One of my favourite guitar solos is Live Forever. Nowt flash about it, just very emotive, hits the spot at exactly the right time.

In fact the way that whole song builds to a crescendo and then the spiralling refrain is one of the reasons Oasis are better than Stone Roses, as that is something the Stone Roses could never do. The Stone Roses were good at playing a decent hook, and jamming out a song around it, and Squire had the talent to pull that off. Sure they could lay down a decent groove, but they never had the songcraft that Noel had.

The Stone Roses can make you dance with a few funky chops, but Noel could whip up a storm with a few simple chords.
