One league cup & stanley matthews. history my arse
A history since 1863, must be one of the oldest clubs. Not the most successful but everything is relative...one more trophy than hundreds of clubs up and down the country. Despite their history not being full of trophies I'm sure they're proud of players and teams that have represented them over the years. A proper football club.

I couldn't care one bit for them or what they think.

Stoke are irrelevant to pretty much everyone else in the Premier League.

5 years time they will be gone and no one will remember....

... except Pulis

the question remains:what the fuck's an oatcake and is it better than a stottie?
It's basically a pancake made out of .... oats. A porridge pancake if you like. What is more it was traditionally sold through holes in the wall which the inhabitants of the six towns were very proud of but everyone else just thought was a bit strange. Sadly the last hole in the wall closed up a couple of years ago so I don't know where Stokies buy their oatcakes from now. Asda probably. Oatcakes although working class and traditional have of course nowt on stotties and certainly nowt on fadge which is the proper food of the gods.
The Stokies are OK in my book - although we are honour bound to hate one another because they are from the "other" team innit.

You are obviously correct on having the bigger gates.
I would like to offer a few mitigating circumstances. We are one of 8 cities in the UK that have 2 league clubs , someoneonce estimated/calculated that if the Vale got in the Prem (! ) they could expect 10 to 12 thousand gates. My point bring as a city we don't do too badly when you think that the other 2 club cities are London , Manchester, Liverpool etc. Secondly except for isolated seats we have sold out virtually every game this year. Thirdly as with many areas we suffer greatly from unemployment (as you do) I have many friends who cannot afford to go , even if there was capacity. Like yourselves we are a proud working class club and have retained that fan base, which is why we may seem rough. We are proud of Sir Stan . Also within just over one hours travel are the Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham clubs, Anyone half way between the two would tend to be attracted by the glory of those clubs. Football and our club means as much to us as yours do to you. Forums are not representative of all fans.
We have been shocking recently.
Hey I'm not knocking your crowds mate, just pointing out that your lot (on that forum at least) seem rather jealous of our support. A bit of Napoleon Complex going on it seems. ;)

Yes I realise that.

I'm simply pointing out possible reasons why we are lacking perhaps 10,000 more...But irrespective of the reasons, the facts are the facts.
I am pleased that Stoke on Trent has been able to maintain two clubs . Derby and Forest are not too far away either, certainly anyone living in the Peak District would have to decide which way to go.
Interesting how many Northern working class clus have declined at the expense of new southern clubs. The Accringtons, Barrowsand Bradford PA for the Maidenheads, Wimbledons and Crawleys

There used to be Oatcake shops, sold nothing but oatcakes. Only opened one or two days a week and were normally just a converted front room on an end terrace house. Don't get over so much these days but I'm sure they're not all closed. The bakers all sell oatcakes though.

You are right .
There's plenty left Billy.
It is still a tradition particularly on a Sunday morning, bacon cheese and oatcakes cooked on a tin plate. The oatcakes have got to be cooked and collected fresh

Oh no, this shit again. I was glad they'd moved on from us and had 'bigger fish' to fry since they won't really see us as rivals for league positioning anymore.

It's a rivalry purely on and restricted to Internet forums. Hooliganism for geeks.
I had no idea there was forum rivalry with the oatcake!

Hooliganism for geeks

That fella at the back of the queue has had an oat cake or ten, he's some unit
The wife's a Stokie and brings a bag of oaties back whenever she goes across to see the outlaws.
The mother in laws in hospital at the moment so she'll probably be across to see her this weekend which means oatcakes for breakfast Sunday!

If there happen to be any spare tickets for Saturday someone PM me. I can turn it in to a humanitarian mission taking a daughter to see her sick mother
