Stokes on not playing at Durham

Little disappointed in that if I'm honest. I find it hard to believe they are entirely his words. Perhaps he feels doing this sort of thing may be best for his chances of being captain one day.......

I agree with him regarding a rest can do your body the world of good - but it's not the rest that's the issue really, it's when the rest occurs. He could easily miss the first two ODI's, or the last two and his body would be more rested than by missing the T20.

Beefy was right - a lot of effort has gone in by the club in promoting this and selling out, it was no surprise to me that I got an email this morning telling me 'tickets had become available'.

I know it isn't Ben's fault, but he's done absolutely nothing for Durham this season - played one game, got a duck, bowled shite, is it a sign of things to come? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up at a different county.

Tickets coming available have nothing to do with Stokes not playing just sky confirming sight lines. I think it's a complete over reaction from some people and cricketers not playing for their counties during the season is hardly a new thing either.

Can you 100% say it has nothing to do with Stokes not playing? Do you know for a fact that nobody at all has opted to return tickets because of the decision?? If you can and do, can you provide evidence to back that up??

I never suggested it was a new thing, I'm merely pointing out it's been a dreadful year - most other international players had most of the first month of the season and a period after the Champions Trophy. Stokes has played one game.

I bought some of the tickets and they were in lines in each section. If folk returned I'd guess they would be randomly situated.

there has been plenty of what is now known, false advertising

it was all built up as a rematch and revenge for the final

now i am going regardless, but the fabled "new audience" the FTECB is all in favor of attracting, may have been attracted by the false advertisement.

this may then lead them to doubt any promotions in future regarding international games at Durham

who could blame them?

an insult to Durham and the north east in general.

I can produce an email as to why the new tickets became available yes, can I officially say people haven't returned any then no but going off the terms and conditions they couldn't do that anyway.

Durham are responsible for the advertising Carty. Personally I'm going to watch England with a team that contains a number of fantastic players, I could understand it more if we were shite and he was the only decent one like most of the T20's at Durham this year

Don't get me wrong, ed, I am looking forward to the game, with Hales and Roy blazing away, but it would have been even better, if Ben was playing. He just went to 50 as I type.

There maybe a few of the "new audience" at the game, through the advertising. It may prevent them in future, if what they get, is not available.

Like going to the pictures to watch la la land and gettting Texas chain saw massacre.

I've set it up now, let's the wags fire away;)

Stokes has been poor here, sorry but he has

He's talking Shite there

Gone down a bit in my estimation

I'm sure he will be back at the ipl next year

There's absolute no reason why he shouldn't play

None at all

How bowling 4 overs will impact the ashes

It's nothing short of scandalous

Looks like Stokes is slowly learning how to toe the party line, to be fair to him when asked the question he doesn't have much option other than to trot out the reason/excuse he will have been told to say.
I personally wish he hadn't commented on the issue then at least we could have held onto the belief that he had wanted to play.

Rested for a T20 game

There's 5 one dayers he could have rested for and it would have been more beneficial. He's got 2 months off soon.

I got that e-mail as well about Sky camera sight lines, making a few more tickets available. As for returning tickets because Stokes not playing thats a non issue. From what I understand once the tickets bought there's no refund unless 9.5 overs or less are bowled on the day.
