Stoke Away

What’s Stoke like for a night out? Staying over somewhere but can’t decide whether to stop over in Stoke or are we better off in somewhere like Manchester then training it over?
Aye, definitely go to Manchester for the night. Stoke - Picadilly is about 40 minutes and about a fiver.

Otherwise you've got Hanley or Newcastle Under Lyme for the night out.

What is the best option for parking if coming from the M6 north of stoke?

we’ve parked near the waste recycling place just west of the ground, walk along the canal then over a bridge up to the away end.

10 minutes at most.

Stoke town centre. Dead. City centre (Hanley). Dead. Newcastle Under Lyme. Less dead, half decent.

Stone a bit further south down the A34 is a decent night out.

I'd go further north to Manchester if I were you.

Cheers lads, just as I thought. Manchester it is. Think a return train is only about 15 quid so can’t complain

Anyone else not got their tickets yet ? Few of the lads haven't had theirs through the door...

If they don't turn up today (appreciate some post doesn't come 'til early afternoon) then they'll have to e-mail the ticket office so duplicates can be produced for collection down Stoke.

when you come out of the station turn right the police will direct you to the terrace pub it will be sunderland fans only buses will pull up there to take you to the ground think its 2quid and they wait at the ground to take you back the station.you can walk but its a fair old walk 30 mins.hope this helps mate have a gppd day
Looking on Google maps there are 2 pubs called The Terrace Inn near the station. One on Leek Road and one on City Road. Which is the one for the Sunderland fans?

The one near the station is the usual. A special bus is put on to and from the ground for a few quid.

Getting bad vibes about our travel plans tomorrow...Booked on the 8;52 Avanti Edin. change at Crewe for Stoke...same journey back up..but weather getting worse, and Avanti F/B page not too hopeful of a normal service.

Aye we are supposed to be on 6.40 Crosscountry from Newcastle in the morning and I'll be surprised if they run, everywhere south of York seems flooded and more heavy rain due overnight.
