If I have done this, any idea what I need to do?
Options are:
1) phone HMRC to explain
2) withdraw £1k from one of the accounts, and do nothing more
3) forget about it
1 is the correct answer. They'll likely tell you to do either 2 or 3.
If you skip option 1 and go straight to 2 or 3 the chances are nobody will notice.

From experience you wouldn’t have been allowed to put money in over the limit. There was once I tried opening a fixed rate isa and it blocked me because I had forgotten about £150 a month I was paying into a stocks and shares is a.
