###STID2 LIVE FEEDBACK THREAD###

I've just started episode 4 so I'll give my review when I've seen the lot.

However, what I will say is that I'm surprised that Methven is getting a hammering.

From what I've seen so far, he was the driving force in many things. He may come across as ruthless but that is exactly what was needed at the club.

Tony Davison nails it in the 3rd episode when he says the staff are terrified and don't know how to work things out by themselves because they've always been told what to do and at the end of the month send the bill to a man named Ellis Short in Florida. The staff have meetings among themselves and can't decide on things therefore arrange another meeting resulting in Donald and a few others making decisions.

There was a total lack of leadership, in fact it was non existent and this was shown in the meetings Methven had with staff about asking for ideas and suggestions and there was just silence and glum faces like a group of school children.

Methven was trying show leadership and be a leader figure and as mentioned by Donald in episode 3, we need people to be on board with us or go elsewhere and not have negative people around the club.

We, the fans, demanded that we get our club back and Methven was trying to do this. We got 46,000 fans on boxing day and that was because of Methven's drive which is something that had been missing for many years at board level.

By no means does he get off scot free as he has said some daft things. However, the fact remains is that he and Donald have dedicated a lot of their life over the last few years to trying to help us get back to where we should be , probably more so than any owners we've had previously and they brought the good feeling back.

I'm quite sad and disappointed it's ended the way it has as with the right support, structure and financial backing, the club could have been on a good track. However, they have been driven out

I generally find, if you talk to people in a civil, calm and rational manner, you'll get more back from them, than ranting and effing blinding at them.
I understand CM trying to make a point, by indicating how stark the situation was, which would have been fine, if he was addressing a load of hardened dockers, but not when addressing office staff, presumably of which, many were women.

Watched 1st episode, Majas goal man what a finish. The main reason our season went to tits.

He’s a twat. His interview at the end of episode 2 says it all IMO. Had absolutely no intention of staying. Greedy wanker.
It’s an absolute joke Jack Ross didn’t get that squad promoted mind.

Awful centre-backs and losing our best player in January means I have some sympathy. We’d have gone up if we had kept Maja or signed someone like Jordan Willis a year earlier.

My mates in Waterford were raving about STID1 and eagerly looking forward to watching STID2

Apparently, the Leeds documentary is worth a watch, (but not as good as ours) according to a mate in Waterford.

I met a lady from Canada and two guys from Italy while travelling this summer who, separately, all approached me because I was wearing a Sunderland shirt and had watched the show. I love Sunderland to death, but even i'll admit there is no way they'd even know who we were if it wasn't for the show!

Undoubtedly it's given the club great exposure/publicity around the globe, which can only be a good thing.
I just wish there was a happy outcome.

TBH, that transfer was more down the Agent than Maja. - Personally think he wanted to stay.

And as far the Grigg Saga.. we went way over what we were gonna spend. In the words of Cher... If you turn back time!

good god

So I assume Luke O'Nien is a "greedy wanker" for leaving Wycombe then

as is George Dobson?

grow up

We should never in a million years have sold him, why on earth did they sell him, fuckin embarasing ownership by the worst owner we will ever have

Yeah, imagine if we weren't shit  Be nice to have a series following our European adventures or a nice FA cup final win!
Wouldn't it just, mate ? 😊
There's a standing joke on here, that one of these days, I'll meet one of the lads from here (@Stortford ) for a few pints and some tapas, in Madrid on the day SAFC are playing in the Champions League final.
We can but dream, of hitting such giddy heights, mate 👍😊

The club right now, this minute, has never been more rudderless and lacking leadership

This is an unreal post, totally and utterly deluded

"dedicated their life"

if they had used the parachute payments what they were there for we wouldn't be in this mess.

Financial backing?

what the fuck was Donald for then?

Well done mate ,best post by a million miles .The usual chip on shoulder brigade out in force. He spoke with great passion wished we had scored in 94 min, forks in the road eh

Just watching this is bringing back all of those fristrations. Why did we try to sit on every lead we took, instead of building on them?
Why did Flanagan appeal for a foul and leave himself flat-footed for the winner at Wembley?

Fuck's sake

There wasn't exactly a queue of people wanting to buy us was there?

They have both been trying to be as transparent as possible and this has shown with the fan engagements on podcasts, social media and radio appearances and it's partly because of that they have received death threats and hate mail because they've been too engaged with the fans. We've learnt that with our fans and many other fans of other clubs that that sort of engagement simply isn't sustainable.

They had the right idea, they tried and succeeded in some things but failed at others which hurt them.

What this second series has done is enlighten us is that football doesn't just happen on the pitch. Off the pitch it has an effect as well and that has been shown clearly.

We need a long term plan because a short term plan of getting promotion with no financial backing or structure off the field is just going to make is continue on this same path.

The club and the fans need to be together at every step and not become unattached because of failure of not getting promotion.

Donald actually seems like a nice bloke who genuinely cares but in over his head.

I'm only 4 episodes in so could be wrong?
