Never seen the incident, but if people can't obey the ground rules set by SAFC what do you expect, when you enter the field of play.

I'm not sure how fans can complain, especially when they cant follow rules, especially rule: 15.3 which is set out as an arrestable offences under the Football (Offences) Act 1991 (as amended) with possibly conviction resulting in a Banning Order

They are complaints because stewards arent trained well enough in crowd control and they act more like little hitlers

People who stand up at the match are breaking them rules you quote what happens to them?

Bet some of you even like the rule where ya cant drink on coaches and trains because of moronic behaviour

doubt it, they get the odd punch etc every now and then. thats as bad as itll get

not with the likes of millwall.

i remember their first visit to the SoL.

they made a run at our lot in the south stand, the stewards were away quicker than our fans

if they got in the way of millwall that day they would been ripped to shreds.

Half of them regulations aren't enforced and thousands of people don't follow them.

People only bleat on about rules when it suits them. They sometimes forget they are breaking the rules aswell. Most people stand up at some point during play, like when we have a free kick, corner or penalty - that is against the rules.

Thats a different thing though...someone who runs on the pitch has obviously given it a bit of thought

Someone who runs on the pitch after a goal in the spur of the moment gives it less thought than someone who decides to stand up to watch free kick.

Its called passion, emotion and getting caught up in the moment. Not always the case but over the years that has certainly been the case.

the complete opposite actually.

a goal goes in, your buzzing, a player runs towards you arms out, before you know it you have gone on, caught in the moment.

if you stopped and thought about it you wouldnt do it.

how many fans - not including SAFC ones, follow that rule? Possibly, less than 5%?

There are rules you CAN enforce (pitch incursion etc), and ones you just CAN'T - ie: standing for corners etc.. It's when fans (and yes i'll use our SWC lads in this case!) stand for long periods of time (for most of the 90mins). Safety does comes into play at this time and thus stewards have to try and get you all to sit down. (which doesn't happen most of the time, as you all just chant "stand up, if ya hate the mags")

That, and the fact there are more people than seats sometimes in the SWC, when 3 mates sharing 1 seat (or just standing together with 39 others, in a row made for 40 people) and that is a safety issue in itself.

Exactly. So we have rules and regulations that you cant even enforce ffs.

Its 'unofficially' ok for lots of people to break certain rules because they cant be enforced. But by the same guidlines its ok to ban one fucker because that can be enforced.

This is why whenever people start bleating on about rules on here it means fuck all.

There's a few people around me break the rules. The odd one with the usual racist shite, which just means they are thick as shit, but what annoys me the most is the ones who insist on smoking.

the non-standing regulation and all seater stadium was brought in back in 1989 after the Hillsborough disaster

Obviously the stadium layouts are not as bad now as 21 years ago, but the rules are there for a reason.

But having a fuck-knuckle like you trying to impose them totally undermines it!

so, when you get asked by a steward to sit down, do you do it!? ( and be honest! )

Not getting on my soap box but they will come a time when someone in the SWC gets ejected for not following stewards orders/requests

if every that broke a rule or two in the ground was ejected, they'd be nee fucker left but stewards, players and officials.

I was sat near the back of the north stand yesterday close to the NE corner.

for some reason, once in the first half and once in the second, some steward came and stood in the aisle about ten rows from the back for about five mins each time. Deeing nowt but standing and blocking mine and everyone around me's view.Saw no reason for it at all

So when a steward who is doing his job does it it's wrong, but many on here condone the right to stand in seating areas and block the view of someone who chooses to sit?

And its time it changed because it clearly dosen't work and can't be enforced properly.

I only stand when i'm towards the back of the North Stand and ive never been asked to sit down or stop swearing etc by a steward.

Exactly. So you agree they only use the rules when it suits.

They don't work and they can't even be enforced.

yes, and thats fine.. if the supervisor steward allows that, then thats upto him. Same applies in the premier concourse. Supervisor says anyone wishing to stand can use the back few rows, so they aren't in anyones way.

Its when people in row 4 for example stand, people in rows 5 and 6 can't see, so need to stand up, and this triggers a domino effect, so you end up with a full section of the crowd stood up for one or two fans that refuse to si during a game.

If however, higher management, ie: match control order stewards to ask fans to be seated, then stewards need to relay that comment/request to the fans, whether they like it or not.

You try being a steward, earning no more than £32 for a normal steward, or £39 for a supervisor, and see if you can get fans in the SWC to sit down on your first, second or even fifth time of asking.

Again, and certainly around PC area, you cant go to a match without venting your anger - and with anger comes swearing. if any around you complains then yes you will be spoken to in the first instance, however .. isnt swearing (at the ref, players/game!) part of every match day, which ever section of the ground your in?

However... Racist Chanting IS another matter!

Everyone know's you've got to be a thick loon to be a steward. How do you think Disco qualified?

one got a right thumping vs the mags when the mags were surging at the front a bit. one steward in their way took a topper punch

the worst ive seen from sunderland vs stewards was wigan at home a few years back. iirc a copper punched someone in the lower bit of the swc and things kicked off a bit with police/stewards

I'm not so much having ago at the stewards in this case. Just its clear to see most people break some of the rules when at the match because the regulations are so fucked up they don't mean anything.

Then people come on here giving it 'but he's breaking the rules' - just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Never had much of a problem with stewards personally. The ones down Darlo let us smoke in the bogs/stands etc no problem. £32 isn't bad though, beats paying for a match ticket. ;)
