As i said football isn't like any other business..............a club shop is part of the fabric of the club and the game itself ...most clubs carry the shop as part of the business entity that is the football club.....so yes t could be viewed as part of the branding as you put it .
but it has to be run like any other business....the bills the club have to pay have to be paid using money..not the fabric of the community...running things at a loss wont help the club, the community or the team.
It shouldnt even need to be discussed, totally pisspoor, plenty non league outfits with better arrangements.
but they arenon league so arent doing things well...lets not copy them
You've clearly never worked in retail. The three most important things for a shop are location, location, and location. Fundamentally, the shop is on about the worst place imaginable. Even moving it to BCH would only make it bad instead of terrible. An outlet requiring a special trip with no other outlets in the same area will be a disaster area. There's no point in paying staff and energy costs to open when there's little or no footfall for a large parts of the week. Most retail staff are part time. Next used to run with a skeleton staff from Monday to Wednesday and then ramp up numbers towards and through the weekend.

As much as people want the shop open more, there's no point in opening if you'll lose money on that day's trade.
i dont advocate having it at the stadium..every posst on this thread from me is me saying dont have a club shop at the stadium.

kildare perhaps if you saw it as a necessary expense , a club utility, like travel costs or canteen ..you might get the fact yes profit would be nice but its an item that the business has to carry to provide a decent service to its customers..I doubt many of the physical club shops around the country make much of a profit if any especially if compared to online but most clubs have them and by the looks of it are far better run than our jokefest of a shop.As Pt Barnum said get the little things right and the rest will follow!
All depends on whether you are willing to trade branding for debt or a player.

To be fair, it's hardly a destination at the moment either at the SoL or if we had one in the Town Centre. Could work if the Sheepfolds or High Street developments genuinely brought in lots of people. I agree, never going to be worth it in its own right.
I really doubt the sums will be that great fella..........do we get rid of the canteen at the academy or use public transport to get our players to matches ..if we see it as a necessary expense the accountants on here might lose interest.........most other clubs provide a decent service to their fans ,why cannot we?

Did you see the post below the one you quoted from an ex-employee in the club shop who said it was dead Monday to Friday? It's only a destination shop if people go there. Frankly, not enough will ever do that enough to justify opening 9-5 six days a week.
I haven't googled the answer for all clubs but I dont think Huddersfield are unique and they open 6 days a week................how do they manage it? here is our closest championship rival in as equally deprived area and they manage it New Opening Hours For MFC Official Retail Store | Middlesbrough FC
i can see the financial arguments but for some reason it appears other than money other clubs provide a better service to their fans than us!

Why do you think other clubs can manage this and we cannot ..it cannot all be down to location?

but i dont see a club shop as a utility when the shop is online anyway and fans have the utility of that...improve the online offering and tsa better utility..

The stadiums concourse is shite really and all it's good for is a half time quick pint and a pie for the desperate. The surrounding area should be vastly improved with bars, cafes , restaurants and outlets (including a new club shop). Not just for match day crowds but non matchday as well.
Agree, but all of this costs money something we’ve barely got for players, as will tell this season !

its like that or all clubs though! Why do most other clubs choose and see the need to run a physical club shop with usually a 5-6 day service?
do they run them in town centres-the exact course I think SAFC should be following?
I don't think that's true! Please provide evidence!

You say a lot of stuff mate and most of it is nonsense......I am well aware of how difficult it is to run a physial shop but i have stated that most clubs choose to do so .....why do you think that is? i will repeat it why do you think clubs run physical club shops ?I I asked gom the same question why do other clubs choose to run club shops and the answer should be illuminating?

because their stadoums arent out of town locations so they have better locations and more footfall and so it makes more economic sense...

I forgot your not a sunderland fan the sol is hardly a out of town stadia ..it aint on the highstreets but not many are ...........id wager its closer the the city centre that many of its competitor's.

The one and only way to run merchandise especially when a buzz was about after Wembley is a town centre shop n the bridges and match days a club shop. You do not need to fuck about online waiting for delivery and it’s wrong size go to a shop and try on or if it’s a gift hold it up etc for size.I am sure the super competent people who run merchandising can Negotiate a good deal with the bridges people if not there’s room in Jackie Whites.
Customer traffic is vital it’s everything seven days a week.

on line which doesn't suit a lot of our fan base.

£4.99 delivery charge no matter how much you spend (mug £7 plus £4.99, 3 full kits £150ish still have to pay delivery). Most online retailers offer free delivery once you hit a certain order level.
Clart on being in for the Hermes driver
Clart on sending stuff back if it doesn't fit
Not being able to take advantage of the 10% ST Holder's discount.

It's a ridiculous state of affairs.

Plenty of operations run a seven day business operation but the focus is on the weekends whilst the week is quieter. Cinema's for one.

We need the Club to show some imagination with pop up shops and the like. Its not beyond the wit of man.

Just make it easy for people to support the Club. Non league clubs with non of the resources of SAFC can manage it.

Supporters are literally begging SAFC to provide opportunites to put money into the club whether through news strips or buying tickets. Just make it easy for supporters to do that.

New kit launched last week and as of the weekend fans couldn't purchase certain sizes, and they'd ran out of certain letters for printing! Haway man that's piss poor and amateurish.
