Steve Davison

There's a retail outlet available to lease just next to the entrance of the Bridges.....Annual rent is £17K,

Clubs like Darlo have a presence in their Town centre and Pools have their ticket office open during the week. Which ever way people come at this debate, the way the club is being run off the pitch is bang average.
Within days of the new kit launch we've ran out of stock.....just shouldn't happen. People cant speak to a real person face to face if they have an issue with season cards, or any ticketing problem. Again just shouldn't happen.
yes i agreee the club should have a presence in the town centre and only oppe the ticket off and club shop at the stadium on match days and special occasions.
yopur point about the club running out of stock of the kit this quickly is very demonstrative of a [roblem with how the lcub is run

Well said, £17k is nothing when you have a product that would fly out.
Surely they can negotiate a 10 year lease with a 5 year break clause in case it goes South, do a quick projection plan to the owner (which would say something along the lines of…..”look boss, free money”).

As far as stock goes, ecery Sunderland fan knew there would be little stock which is totally fine. But Surely the club knew and just a little bit of PR to say something along the lines of “low stock at first but more on the way”. It makes them look like they’re on the ball but now it just looks like they’ve not ordered enough.

I find him a bit of an embarrassment, the mistakes just seem very elementary.

yep...17k rent is fuck all..apart from whatever kit you sell...and whatever tickets you sell...stick a coffee shop thing in there and alos have it as a click and collect sport for online purchases and for amazon purchases..would easily make the cash back

Probably working in their favour the shop being shut. I got the bairn a tracky top before the playoff final. I wouldn't have bought it if I had seen it up close beforehand. Made out of the same material as his school jumpers, bobbled to bits straight away.

Double whammy with Brexit then COVID severely impacting on firms struggling to recruit is it any wonder nowt seems to go smooth. Anybody tried getting a tradesperson etc. to do stuff in reasonable timeframe - bloody nigh on impossible.

KLD oversees the whole non playing side of SAFC..
Kristian Speakman oversees the playing side
Davison and spearman are same level, Davison controls finances as per kld instructions, Davison pushes the e tickets
Im sure he will be cheap, but economical definitely not. Its plain as day to see his decision’s are losing the club money.
It's not all about money, it's a service to the fans , tickets and merchandise should be readily available not this bollox online shite

In fairness non league clubs with none of the resources of SAFC can organise merchandice and turnstile operators.

Fans want to put money into the Club lets just make it easy for them to do so.

All we need to do is open a shop (anywhere) and have cash and contactless turnstiles. If Davison cant organise that he needs to go.

Keeping the club shop at the SoL open during regular shopping hours and selling matchday tickets in there would seem to be one of the easiest things to do.

The clubs online shop is poor, outdated and in need of a major overhaul, especially with more people buying online these days.

I can't see cash turnstiles making a return like.

You shouldn’t let your personal business involvement with SAFC blind you to the fact that currently SAFC need to get their off field act together.

It is quite clear that there is a lack of communication/PR with regard to various issues including the club shop and ticket office.

Do you think it’s acceptable that the club shop was only open for two days in the week prior to the play off final or that you can buy a Newcastle shirt in Sunderland city centre but not an SAFC one as one example, ditto in places like the Galleries in Washington, Durham City or South Shields-surely this isn’t on?

Many ticket office staff have lost their jobs in recent times or were allegedly asked to carry out other roles with no pay increase, and many allegedly left citing that things are poorly organised behind the scenes right now.

On the playing side the club seem to be really on the up and some of the public relations in Portugal right now has been great with the club inviting fans to a training session and the players happy signing autographs and having their photos taken etc..

Of course Steve Davison came into SAFC with the financial restraints of a league one club to deal with but hopefully he’ll now get a grip on some of the basics (and more) and move us upwards commercially and in communicating with the supporters. 👍

it wouldnt if done right..
Rent and rates alone, never mind staff make it uneconomical.
Not to mention that it only makes sense if these are NEW sales i.e. not cannibalising other potential sales. At kit launch, Christmas and before big games, people just find another way to buy and these are the only times it would appear to be profitable.
Only reason it makes sense is if you are happy for it to be a brand exercise

if it were onl selling kits then it wouldnt be economical..but you have to make kit sales only a small part of the overall function of the building
Another one way out of his depth.
he has operated throughout his career at far far higher levels of business than safc will ever be
