Steve Cram

I seem to remember he won a major race on the track and the first thing he did when still on the track was find out the Sunderland result as he'd been avoiding it through the day to he wasn't distracted in his race prep.

Played football against Waddle as a kid too I believe.

He’s a MLF, I thought everyone knew that

Google it and there’s a photo in the internet of him and his brother with the FA cup in 1973. Iirc his Dad was a copper and managed to wangle it somehow that Cram and his brother were photographed with it

probably no longer lives there as he was married to his first wife at the time but used to live in Dinnington village just behind Ponteland Airport
Yep, then moved out to a posh place at Tranwell once they had a few quid. Had some dealings with them back then, well Karen mainly (who was lovely BTW).
It would not surprise me if Cram had something to do with us being the first(?) British club to have a NIKE strip.
Yep, Foster worked for Nike at the time so it all fits...
Brendan Foster, now there's a tosser
BF lives in the same village as a relative. Kevin Whately also owns a property there that him and his family use as a holiday home.
Personal life[edit]
Cram's mother Marie was born in Germany and he considered representing Germany because of the dominance of Coe and Ovett.[18] Cram was married to Karen for many years, but they divorced in 2006 and since then he has lived with former athlete Allison Curbishley in Northumberland. He has two children, Josie and Marcus, who have had some success in under-age races. Cram had one sibling, a younger brother Kevin, who died in a fall aged 39 while out for a run in Cardiff in 2001.
Didn't know him and Curbs were back in Northumberland - I was thinking they were down around the Yarm area?
