Maths is not your strong point is it?

So what is the total effort expended in a typical Steed game in your maths world then ?

How any professional player gets away with blowing out of his arse after 20 minutes is beyond me.

A typical game of football goes approx 100 minutes. ( probably 97-98 if you want to be pedantic)

total effort = 60 minutes played * 100 % / Time game played - approx 100 minutes

Total effort = 60%

I would give 100% effort but may last slighlty less than Steed even.

So he should be expected to make an effort when the ball's gone out, someone's getting subbed, for goal celebrations and for injuries? Whichever way you look at it, it's 90 minutes of play.

This. We'd be going mental about him wasting energy if he went chasing the ball like a deranged dog every time it went out for a throw in, plus he'd be putting ball boys out of work

I've always said he was our best defender. He always tried to use the ball intelligently and consequently didn't hoof the ball straight back at the oppo. There's nowt in the current m/f that comes anywhere close to having Steed's skill & compoure on the ball. I'm still in mourning for his departure,

Me too. Given the developments I just wonder whether his move was entirely down to a footballing decision.

Loved the way he used to be surrounded by about four players and all of a sudden he's megged them all and he's away
and his class sliding tackles!

gutted he left, was a great player to watch.

can't help wonder if it could be depression - seems to be happening alot in pro sportsmen these days

all the best steed hope everything turns out for the best

The little fella was the most naturally talented and gifted player I've seen play for us, it was such a shame we never really got a system worked out to have seen the best of him. The closest we came was when Chimbonda and Cisse were here. As others have said, a joy to watch and we are gonna miss him, big mistake not getting Zog then letting him go.

A good player with a degree of skill and the ability to get out of tight situations. But to say he was one of he best players seen in a Sunderland shirt leads me to believe that a lot of posters must be johnny come latelys. Do people not remember some of the great football in Reidy's era and even those players couldn't hold a candle to some of the older players.

Regardless sorry to hear he has problems and hope every thing turns out ok

Yes I do expect effort when the ball is out are you happy for the smoking monkey to stand around wheezing instead of marking up?
