One of my favourite ever SAFC players.

I only really realised this towards the end of his time here.

Loved the way he used to be surrounded by about four players and all of a sudden he's megged them all and he's away

EDIT - and his class sliding tackles!

class player, fuck how we missed him yesterday would love to have im back, but if he has retired good luck to the lad hope he does well in whatever he chooses to do

Twist in Saint-Etienne. So he had to start the match against Sochaux on Sunday, Steed Malbranque is not even on the score sheet. The explanation for this last package is as simple as surprising the midfield of 31 years has decided to stop his career for reasons outside the sport. Under the shirt of the Greens, the former Fulham player or Sunderland will therefore played only 26 minutes of play

Interviewed by us, Bernard Caiazzo declined to speak at length on the subject. "I had echoes, but it stops there, we did just before he confessed to sit in the gallery of Geoffroy-Guichard. I can not tell you for now. I do not know more than you. There will certainly be a press conference. "After the match against Sochaux, Christophe Galtier should speak to confirm the decision of the player. (Photo-Sports Press) - T.L.-S.

What, he didn't score??

On a more serious note I hope he and his family is well. I get the feeling someone close to him is having serious health problems ...

Apparently his retirement isn't 100% certain yet but...

Galtier on Malbranque retiring: "It's not impossible. You'd have to ask him. I saw a troubled guy and I'm worried about him."

That doesn't sound too good.

Aye how we missed his no end product, lack of pace and shit shooting, would have made all the difference! Vastly overrated on here.

Viva Le Steed !
Have fun and health best wishes to you and your family.
Happy Times Steed,
SAFC.OK.

Canny shocked by this like. Hope he sorts himself out.

Always liked him as a player here, he was a really cultured midfielder with a brilliant tackle on him. Pity he didn't have that much of an end product although, if he did, we'd not have seen him play for us.
