Sorry if this is stupid but does anyone know if he definitely has a son?

There's an article from a year ago talking about his daughters being at school but that's all.

If the rumour is true good luck and God bless to them.

f***ing horrible news that like. Credit to the bloke for doing what he's done, puts everything into perspective really, good luck to them both and lets hope his lad makes a speedy recovery.

Malbranque lifts lid on retirement decision

Sep 2 2011 By Paul Warburton

STEED Malbranque has shocked football by hanging up his boots in the week when Fulham signed three new players – including £10.6million Bryan Ruiz.

The Whites hero for five years between 2001-06, and the one greeted with “Ste-e-e-e-ed” by the Fulham faithful every time his name was announced, has stunned French club St Etienne by walking out on them less than two months after joining from Sunderland.

Still only 31, Malbranque is understood to have rowed with his father over the contract negotiated by Malbranque senior, and begged his new team to be released from the deal.

Sources close to St Etienne reckon his father’s interference throughout his career, including when he was at Fulham, came to a head this week.

The source said: “When Steed saw and understood the real terms of his contract he decided enough was enough.

“He expected his father, of all people, to do a better job.”

St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier added: "Steed came to see me to say that he was having personal problems. I saw a troubled guy and I'm worried about him."
That might have been what he told the club. Steed comes across as a quiet, private person and may have been wanting to avoid attention

Some things really are much more important than football. Puts things into perspective.

Good luck Steed. Hope all goes well. Best wishes to your son and your family.

If it was a smokescreen I'm sure they wouldn't have used one that involved him being pissed off with his father.

I'm still hoping it's just a stupid rumour.

Good luck to him whatever his reasons were. I just hope the rumours about his son aren't true.

I have yes

What the fucks that got to do with it, previous rumours

I was merely pointing out that sick Internet rumours appear all the time. To answer your original question, I have no idea why anyone would make this up. But believe me someone would. It was only a few months ago we were being told about Bramble's unfortunate end. Why would anyone make that up? Anyway, if respected journos are reporting it on twitter then maybe it is true. I don't use twitter so wouldn't know. Best wishes to the Malbranque family if true. Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

My best wishes go out to steed and him family! Good luck steed, will always remember you for being one of my favourite players, leaving people for dust, and that double nutmeg against milner will never be forgotten.

Hope it's not true as it's the most horrible of sick jokes if not.

If it is, steed, my thoughts are with you and your family, fingers crossed your little'n will get through this

Life's too short

Steed mate you got 40 odd thousand rooting for ya now like we did every week at the SOL...1 of the true gentlemen of the game Always a Mackem in our hearts
