Ohh aye, I forgot about that...solidarity brother, beanz meanz give peas a chance.:)

They were Heinz, but I'm intrigued to find out what Aldi beans are like since I saw the ad where the little lass rates them. The problem is it's just such a huge step in life to move from your favourite brand that you've had for years and move on to something unknown, quite scary when you think about it.

There is a difference. I was once holding a quiz night in the student bar at Sunderland uni the winning table won a crate of beer. I said one question on the mic(psyche) that the first table to bring back a tin of Heinz beans gets ten points. students from loads of tables legged it out to their digs. the first lad to come back burst threw the door and slumped on his knees totally out of breath and slammed down a tin of tesco beans on the table. I turn to the crowd while holding the tin up and said 'what the fuck is this cheap shit, I said Heinz, what did I say folks? after three, one, two, three' and the whole room shouted 'Heinz'. The lad was sick as fuck grabbed the tin and legged it back out of the door. He got beat IMO.:-D

Steak is my favourite food I reckon.....however a bit like Natives said, I rarely order it when out as apart from eating it in specialist places, it can be a bit of a let-down, or only as good as what you can cook yourself given the right quality ingredients

That said, went to the Hawksmoor when in London recently and it was possibly the best bit of meat I've had....me and the mrs shared a 900g Porterhouse cooked med rare.....was charred and crunchy on the outside and cooked perfectly in the middle.

Normally I wouldn't dream of ordering a sauced streak, prefer the meat to speak for itself, but the waitress suggested a pot of Stilton Hollandaise which I ordered along with some English mustard. The meat was so good, it didn't go near the sauce, just a touch of mustard on the odd bit, but the chips got dunked in it so didn't get wasted!

End of the day, while it's not for me, if you like a steak smothered in sauce, then order it.......my old man wont eat his steak less cooked than well done, kills me cremating his fillet, but he's tried and can't get away with it being less cooked....would rather he enjoy his meal even if it's not how I would eat mine!

steak lovers wouldn't order a fillet. if they did they'd coat it in sauce because it tastes of not very much. get yourself a steak with a bit of fat, hang it then char it on a grill so it's nice and rare (just enough to render the fat of course) . order a sauce to dip your chips and make sure you order mash tater to mop up the juices.

and for the love of god correct a yank if they call it a "fillay", it's fillet.

oh and don't go to gaucho's. used to be good, got carried away with itself.

Because they use the French word 'Filet' which is pronounced 'fillay', ie; Filet Mignon or as I prefer, minging fillet.

thanks, i'd almost forgotten how to speak french for a minute there. ;)

plus the septics really do sound silly saying pretty much anything in french.
