ite. Any management team that employs stats as a great healer should reconsider their place in management, people are the customers so barking loads of orders at them wont motivate them. This is just an observation not directed to anyone on here.

Aye. Then it was misapplied by trying to force people to stop smoking, rather than allow them to make an informed choice.

If you want to start up another boring pro-smoking bullshit argument at least do it in the right thread. Feel free to bump a smoking thread, I'm happy to reiterate the dangers of smoking and why we need to encourage even more people to quit smoking their addictive, carcinogenic cigarettes.

Is regularly smoking a safe activity? No it isn't. Thank you.

They're not like. Stats are wonderful and show patterns and trends and associations that would otherwise have gone unknown or unrecognised.

Misapplication of stats is shite.

Having taken some advanced level stats courses (as you have probably done too) they certainly have their place at the level of demonstrating associations,'correlations, significant differences, analalysis of variance etc.

What pisses me off is using ever more complex formulae that becomes so far removed from the original data that any perceived significance is meaningless in the real world.

Aye - but what that proves is that human stupidity is as resilient as the cockroach
