Star Wars : Episode 9

And then, by magic, she just happens to have an orange/gold one at the end. I thought those crystal things were f***ing impossible to find - hence why Kylo Ren had a dodgy one, causing his sabre to be unstable?
His was unstable because he's a knacker.

Luke had nee bother making his green one, don't see why Rey would.

They're worse from a "having fun at the cinema" point of view, but having seen the new trilogy, I'm going to stay with my earlier thoughts that they were, at least, fairly in continuitiy with the OS, and they added real information to the entire saga. Unlike the new 3.

I'd say "we'll see how people feel about them all in 10 years or so" because Star Wars used to be important like that. But now it isn't, nobody cares. And that's due to the new 3 films, frankly. They cashed in, rather than built on what came before.

And then, by magic, she just happens to have an orange/gold one at the end. I thought those crystal things were f***ing impossible to find - hence why Kylo Ren had a dodgy one, causing his sabre to be unstable?

Wouldn't surprise me. The pacing was f***ing mental. Remember in when they just fucked off to that Casino Planet for about an hour for absolutely no f***ing good reason - filler - well, you have to let them off this time around, as its was a full of smash of actual content.
.
Finally got round to seeing this yesterday...... wasn't hopefuly tbh, as I usually hate JJA's stuff - such as removing the requirement for star ships in Star Trek (personal teleportation devices that can take you literally anywhere), and then cured-f***ing-death in the same film.
But after when Rian Knobhead did in the last one, I thought "well, it can't be any worse".

And it wasn't. As something to sit in front of in the cinema, it was by far the best of the new 3. At no point did I sit and think "this is just exactly the same as before" (i.e. yet another death star, or yet another sheild to break down). And there were a ton of call-backs that had a lump in my throat - some bits were done very well indeed. Leia's role was nice, its such a shame they were limited to the material they had for her, but still, you'd never know.
I do need to watch it again, though.

But then he has to go and ruin it all, by doing something stupid like........... curing death. Again. FFS.

Also, no line up of force ghosts at the end? I really expected to see some people get 5 seconds on screen.
.
Ah, one other thing I forgot to mention - he basically used the Star Trek transport shite again - since when can 2 people just fight via Skype? Its ridiculous. Drag and drop to transfer files (filename=spare_lightsabre.png)

People don't seem to realise this. If you get the story right as well as the action, then you stay relevant, and you can make more films in future years.
If you cash in on the name, and produce something that nobody wants to re-watch, and the story hasn't been expanded, there's nothing to work with in future.

Its more that they welcomed her into their (wider) family, and accepted her for who she was. Agreeing with her choice to self-identify as a Skywalker in the end scene of the film.

Leia having a quick word with Ben killed her.
Ben and Rey literally having a fight across the galaxy from eachother, and regularly talking to eachother and even passing items to eachother - totally fine.

Right.

I'm going to let them off with this one.

Snope came out of thin air, had no back story, and died quickly - yet he had massive power and it was completely unexplained - something loads of us complained about earlier on.
So to find out it was a "creation" of Palpatine the whole time (if I understood that correctly?) makes a lot more sense to me.

I know what you mean about the heart-wrenching scenes. Yep, they were missing from the prequels. If only they'd got the balance between action and story right in those, they could have been excellent. The prequels stand up better to rewatching, whereas the new trilogy were more fun in the cinema.
Just imo, of course.

If you're gonna pass opinion on the film, it's best to be clued up with the back story......

"The stressed crystal barely contains the power of the weapon, necessitating lateral plasma vents that become the crossguard quillons.” And the reason his saber has a “ragged, unstable appearance” is because Kylo constructed it with a cracked kyber crystal. "

So the person from that video is calling it yellow, from what I've seen so far from the film makers, its very specifically gold and not yellow.
But I'm not really interested in the colour, I'm interested in how she can just pick up a crystal from asda, when Ren had to use a knackered one because they were so hard to find.

They're talking about her taking bits of crystal from other sabres - where does that info come from???? And surely, this comes at a cost??

Sorry, that video explains zero imo
& try not being such a douchbag about it mate, we're only talking about a film here.

It's yellow.....And the crystal starts off blue before it ignites to yellow. The colour is significant on Rey's attitude being the last jedi and starting the new generation!

This was the article I read last night

When asked if they had a specific name for the color, optimism was a word that came up frequently to describe the tone they were going for with the look of Rey's lightsaber.
"We definitely went for things like golden and sun and optimism," said Tubach.

It was not a clear crystal that changed color after chosen by Rey. Neither was it a purified version of a red kyber crystal ... Insider thought Rey's saber color may have contained a healed version of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo's cracked red kyber crystal, but it seems that's not the case.

This is in direct conflict with the video you posted earlier. She didn't chop up the 2 crystals she had from the 2 blue sabres. She has a new crystal - the thing that Kylo Ren flat out couldn't get his hands on, so had to use a cracked one. Yet, as per usual, Mary Sue picks one up from the 24hr garage on the way home, no bother at all.

See, this is the problem - you're going into Star Wars lore and coming up with a perfectly valid reason why its a yellow light sabre. But the people making these films don't give 2 shits about any of that stuff. For them, the colour was to look good on screen - so they went for gold, and it means "optimism", not the things you mentioned.

The crystal is chosen for you, not you choosing it.....

Not at all relevant to Episode 9 but I've just thought of a continuity error...

How come the Falcon looks the way it does in Solo, yet in Revenge of the Sith which is set much earlier it looks like it always has done?

they'll use something like lando paid to get it upgraded after the event?

Here's something I said back in 2018

And there we have the real problem.
Star Wars films were special. There were 3 of them.
When the prequels came out, it was a massive deal - 3 new Star Wars films - wow. Sure, not everyone liked them, but they were a single story arc, all made to explain how we got to A New Hope.
Once done, the 6 films still felt special, albeit with the original 3 being the best.

Now, we're getting a film every single year, if not more - all written by unlinked people, and nobody giving a shit how their story fits into everyone elses.

The original trilogy isn't special anymore, as they've been swamped by shite. And its only going to get worse.

And today, I spotted the full 4K HDR Release of the this film, number 9, avaialble on my normal torrent site. To download for free to watch whenever I want.

And I don't want to. I have no interest in re-watching any of the new 5 films. None.
This is someone who went to the midnight showings of the prequels and went to see the re-releases of the originals at the cinemas in the 90's.

Its just sad.

I grew up with the original films. Went to the cinema to see them. I guess I wanted them to evolve as I did. They didn't, the prequels were especially childish for a series essentially about space wizards, and the new three weren't coherent and seemed more about torch passing and stretching the original series out then ending them.

I can see why people like the prequels or the new films. It's all they've known. But its not a patch on what it was, or sadly what it could have been.
