Not a good signing for me, its only as cover on loan however:

Clough took 32yr old Frank Clark to Forest. He won a European Cup medal.

Newcastle signed Beardsley when he was in his thirties. A few good years was left in him.

Time will tell.

He was very poor lately. But there is a good player in there and maybe MON thinks he can get the best out of him. He would be a shit signing for Bruce, but for MON he could came good.

You realised you were wrong and disappeared hoping nobody would notice.

Sadly unlike paper bollocks which tends to be wrong and refuse to disappear.

MON hasn't signed anyone before now. Why start now? He had the full transfer window to bring someone in and hasn't at any point. Early signings can imho favour a team more than those who choose to do business in the last few hours of the window. Teams are fighting over worthless crumbs if they choose to sign someone with only 5mins to go of a window that lasted an entire month. Signing someone early you get the best of the deals.

Oh I didn't realise West Ham fans were the ultimate in scouting these days. If those cockney bubble blowing arseholes think he's shite then its obvious......

MON Out
Short Out
Scouts Out
All Out

You saying we actually have scouts?

My source reveals that Wayne Bridge is on his way to Sunderland in a deal though to be worth some pounds.

He said himself that he would struggle to pick players to sign as he hardly knows his current squad

Injuries have forced his hand too

OK, I'm not sure what on earth your first sentence is about, but to the question "why now?"

Any number of reasons. MON arrived in December, we only played a few games before it was January, and it's unlikely that he would have fully assessed his squad in that time.

Bendtner, Brown, Cattermole, Vaughan have all injured themselves in the last week or so, and Wickham continues to be a concern.

Signing early doesn't always get you the best of deals. Signing late can put pressure on the selling club to let him go cheaper, either because they will lose him in the Summer for nothing or because they already brought a replacement in and need him gone.

Why all the whining on here? Is anyone surprised at our transfer activity? As far as I can see, MON has been open and honest about the type of business he'd be doing in this window. It is all about having enough bodies in the squad on Feb 1st to get us through to the summer. Wayne Bridge is far from an outstanding signing. However, ignoring injuries the only position where we are short on numbers is at left back. Job done for this season then.

If it wasn't for Bridge's awful spell at West Ham, I'd be pleased with this signing.

If he recaptures the form he's capable of, he'll do a good job for us.

Say what you like about Wayne Bridge, at least he won't be calling his son Brooklyn.

(email of the day on a national football site a few years back )

just shows the madness of man city, paying him 85 grand a week, clearly not worth that, decent enough by prem standards tho

I'm happy enough. What's the problem? If he can't cut the mustard here we can send him back in the summer.

Too many people on here can't understand common sense
Yesterday we weren't siging a LB and noone cared.

We do have the No.3 shirt vacant now don't we. Decent signing and low risk assuming we aren't paying 100% of his wages.
