After initially being exasperated, having now learned its a loan I'm actually quite pleased.

If MON can work his magic and rediscover the player Bridge was at Southampton, then we'll be in pole position to sign a very tidy player.

If not and he's still the same player he has been for the last five years or so then we send him back and wish him well.

It's worth the risk of the wages & loan fee to find out.

Agreed.

Decent signing, which will allow us to move Richardson further up field if he's needed.

I remember the last time we signed a 30 something from city and people moaning like fuck, the big man seemed to do ok for us though.

love these idiots saying if he can rediscover his southampton form

yea as if that's gonna happen

total shit signing and the board are obviously not backing O'Neill which is a shame due to the way they backed utter horseshite like Keane and Bruce!

As I said on another thread, it's not a leap out of your seat signing, but it's a logical one that will give us more options. If he's crap we send him back, no loss. He's been a good player in the past so if we can get six months out of him at near that standard we're laughing.

Both him and Davies suggest that we're just getting to the summer and doing the rebuild then which is the sensible strategy.

Think its a canny signing, especially as it feels about 20 year since we last signed a left back

I'm totally shocked, how many seasons have we been crying out for a proper LB, since afore Danny Collins was used as a make shift one, now MON has gone out and got one (possibly) with experience and who has played for 2 of the countrys top teams and a lot of you cunts are moaning about it.

Wait until the summer and I'm sure we'll back him. Maybe even O'Neill doesn't think he's seen enough of his squad to make long term decisions.

I'm sure we'll know if MoN is unhappy, after all he's walked from two clubs over funding. It's probably his idea. Don't let that stop the bile though, it's just a short step from there to having a go at the man himself and you'll be happy.

Sawdust for brains.

Great move by MON, gets in a left back who is prem standard and this frees up Richardson to cover in midfield/striker while Vaughan/Catts etc recover.

I'd be happy with this. Frees Richardson up to play in a more advanced role if necessary. We're very short at the back. If he flops, Richardson can always slot back in there, or even Bardsley, Colback etc.

If he plays, well, brilliant, if he's willing to take a pay cut we sign him up next season.

He's plays in a position where we have no real cover unless you count Bardsley.

It's a loan move so it's no big risk and if he plays, and plays well, we can sign him.

I vote 'yes' :-D

This,but still totally underwhelmed.
