Liverpool will get at least 3 good years out of him. 3 million a season for a striker who is decent and offers something different to what they already have. Make it into the champions league for the next three years and the transfer pays for itself.

exactly. they've got extra games to play, he'll do well there imo

I dont get how this deal is so 'mental'? Lambert will run through brick walls for Liverpool, he scores goals and he holds the ball up well.

Liverpool are entering into a Champions League season, Signing him allows Rodgers to hoy Lambert in and rest Sturridge or Suarez when they have midweek Premiership sides or games at home on a weekend against better opposition.

Good move from Rodgers IMO.

Some people wisely suggesting that a higher fee for Lambert means they'll get a lower price on Adam Lallana, which will save them money on the fee to Bournemouth for Lallana.

Can't believe how many people seem to think he isn't all that. He seems to get most of his praise for just being a target man, but technically he is a very good player.

He will give Liverpool a different option up front, which they will need if they are to compete on 4 fronts next season. £9m is excessive given his age, but I suppose Liverpool can afford to overspend a bit given the money they will get for unexpectedly finishing 2nd and qualifying for the Champions league.

Bit of a leap from us to them mind, canny player but 9 million quid, hell on earth.

Aye but the tribunal set a 25% sell on clause into the deal when Southampton signed Lallana.............the original price for lallana to Liverpool was 26 million. I'd imagine he'll now be sold to Liverpool from about 17-18 million.
