SSN Lambert to Liverpool 9 mill

Ridiculous signing. They already have 2 top class strikers. They should be focusing on getting their defence sorted first.

Must be preparing for Suarez to leave?
Lambert replacing Suarez?

Liverpools one season of challenging for the title is over, 9 bloody million for a 32 year old who's played in the lower leagues most of his career, christ!

Very true. I think Lambert is a strange signing but kind of makes sense. He offers them something completely different, he is physically good, while also being good on the ground.

I can see the reasoning - as you say there will be games where Sturridge/ Suarez isn't working and they could do with a direct option (which keeping Borini on the bench obviously wouldn't help with). I just can't believe the £9m for a lad with no sell on value, would have expected 4 or 5m tops tbh (and failing that I'd expect them to look elsewhere for someone similar).

Would be very strange.

He's a good player. But he's 32 and wouldn't be first-choice unless Suarez was leaving. And even then, he's not a replacement for Suarez. Quite a bit of money for someone like him.
No sell on value at all. Unlike a player such as Borini who could easily be worth more in two years than he is now

Very good player, will do a good job for Liverpool, they have to compete on two fronts now, you can't do that with just Suarez and Sturridge.

Over priced like, but he's English and off the back of an excellent season.

he'll want big wages anarl as this will no doubt be his last big deal and will expect to be paid like a £9m signing. Don't begrudge the lad it at all like, as we've all heard ever since getting in the England squad he's certainly made it the hard way and seems to be a decent bloke, just think Liverpool must be mad to be throwing all that money into signing him

Yeah true about the money, but fans are way to obsessed with sell on values etc. If he helps them get champions league football for the next few seasons, then he is more than worth the money surely?

Goes against Liverpools current transfer policy of buying young players. Really bizarre if true.

He was much better last season. This year he was overshadowed a bit by Rodriguez, and was nowhere near as effective.

He's skilful, he's good pretty good in the air and good around the box. He suits Southampton perfectly, as he links up very well with Lallana, Rodriguez, etc.

But his form wasn't as good this year, and he is 32, I don't imagine he's going to get anymore consistent. And he doesn't have much pace to speak of, which is what Liverpool base their whole game on at the moment..... while he would hold the ball up and bring the likes of Sterling/Sturridge into play, that's not how they've been playing this year... they like their forwards to run at defenders immediately, and that's not really what he does.

If this is true then another one of Rodgers' great expensive signings.
