But surely Liverpool at the very least want to challenging for top 4 again. Is Lambert really a striker Liverpool want to rely on to pick up the slack when Sturridge and Suarez pick up knocks and need a rest? Not for me. They will need better still.
The one thing lambert offers is something different up front to sturridge and suarez if they are struggling to open up a defence. Great move for the lad and with the champions league extra games not a bad signing. Think the fee will be higher due to the lallana situation.

Agreed. But i'm just saying i'd be very underwhelmed if I was a Liverpool fan.

Liverpool need a quality midfielder, fullback and CB. 3 first team quality signings would be better than signing a few squad players imo.

Yep think though 9 mill if it is that aint bad considering he will have 2 -3 seasons at a good level and offers them a different threat. With the champions league games will be good to offer something different up front. Would think lallana will be the midfielder, lovren the cb and then that lad from sevilla at full back.

He's a much better footballer than I thought he was before seeing him live. It's a good signing, especially if the fee of £4m is closer to the reality than the £9m that was originally quoted.

Liverpool need to be challenging Man City again if they're to win the title. Would Lambert get in City's side? Doubt it. Strange move I reckon, they should be looking at better than him, as decent as I think he is.

Spot on.

Look at Citys options upfront - Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetic
Then Liverpools - Suarez, Sturridge, Aspas, Lambert
(Providing Borini leaves)

The two in bold stick out massively in terms of real quality in those lists.

The trouble is attracting quality players who are willing to sit on the bench and you have not paid a fortune for, all I'm saying is i can see why they have gone for this. £4m is not a large sum for a CL team, even if they only get a season or two out of him.

Maybe. I'm still not sure of it like. I dont mind Lambert as a player think he is quite good, sometimes very good but I still think Liverpool can do better. Makes much more sense if its just £4m and nothing else.

Good morale boost for him ahead of the World Cup. Probably go on to win the golden boot now.

They could've hoyed a few million more and got Remy, didn't think a slow lumbering type forward would be Rodgers's sort of player

Lambert's a scouser and lifelong LFC fan so there's maybe more to this signing than him playing a couple of seasons.

Conspiracy alert I know but I can't help but think this sale has been organised to help obtain a 'gentleman's agreement' for the sale of lallana.
