It's what separates him from the fab 3 (Smith, Williamson & Kohli) IMO. He's a level below them due to that conversion rate.

Interesting stuff - I was a big Laxman fan, a classic Indian batsman in terms of his wrist speed and elegance. I suppose one defence of him could be that he usually batted no higher than 5 and is likely to have spent more time batting with the tail than Root.Agreed

There may or may not be but what he gives us is strength in depth in my opinion. He’s a quality player, who has had a dip in form in red ball cricket. I really hope he’s back to best and back to stay.
