I think Root should be in the team playing the role that the management think Cook's playing. And it has to be said that Stokes needs to put in some performances.

And Morgan, or he's the one making way for Taylor.

Because I've dropped Cook I've kept a bit of experience in team re: Bell and Bopara. Only 3 proper bowlers but Root can make up a few overs. Need a reserve WK so that's why Bairstow gets the nod.

Batsman 3 -7 would be interchangeable depending on left / right combinations, power plays, game position etc. I wouldn't be a afraid to drop any of the batsmen in the team including Morgan for Taylor.

One of Stokes, Jordan or Woakes should have wrestled the all rounders spot away from Bopara but IMO they haven't. That's why I'd chose an extra batsman who can bowl a bit plus Ravi can score quick runs at the end. It would leave us a bit short in the bowling dept. but all of the above aren't good enough with the ball anyway.

If Stokes hits some form then he'd get the starting spot ahead of Ravi but I don't rate Woakes and Jordan has lost form with bat and ball.

would you say morgan and ali are nailed on they haven't been consistant with the bat either

depends where he bats I would have the batters mentioned and drop stokes if he cant improve on averaging 14

The key to the short form of the game is to take pace off the ball.

By dropping Ali we end up having to use a real part timer in root.

Would be the alternative for me to get an extra batsmen in. Cook and Bell need to stick to what they are best at doing and that is test cricket.

Still not convinced Anderson is an ODI bowler, especially in Australian conditions (although he could be a horses for courses pick in New Zealand). I'm not Ravi's biggest fan but Morgan looks horrific at the moment, and sadly there doesn't seem to be much of an alternative to Tredwell for the full time spinner.

he averages 29 Anderson that's goos enough

Averages 27 with the white ball in Aus(28 wickets) and 34 in New Zealand (11 wickets)

One of which was on his England debut and one of the few recent ODI series that we've won. Weirdly when Cook was rested.......

I don't think he's the answer, certainly not long term, but it's odd the way he's been treated.
 
Wright. I like him, he scored quickly, and got tournament experience all around the world.
How he's nowhere near squad beggars belief

Edit just read he's a plastic mag.

Overrated cricketer should be nowhere near squad
