Some of these objections have been mentioned upthread but I think they’re legit. Since Craig took over and we were presented with an allegedly more realistic Bond (within reason of course we know it’s all a fantasy) it kinda bothers me that they put together great action scenes, some decent story and characterisations etc but often leave more plot holes than a Swiss cheese. You have to play fair with the audience and they should pay someone to read the final shooting script and highlight all the areas where logic makes no sense (like bionic eye man) or they’ve taken our suspension of disbelief for granted, and make the changes necessary to fill the holes. If the money rolls in they might not be arsed about such things but if they truly do want to reach that adult action spy thriller audience as mentioned above this is where there’s room for improvement. It had enjoyable action pieces.
Story was just a bit meh and the villain was a real waste. Guy hates Spectre and wants revenge. Gets it. But also wants to tidy up the world somehow by killing an unknown number of people. Could be just wanting to kill all politicians and spys and whatnot rather than general populace, but doesn't seem to matter. And Blofeld dies off screen in about a second.
And the Bionic Eye guy is a bit confusing. Towards the end when he's working for Malik, it makes it sound like he joined them after Spectre was destroyed. But since the scientist changed the virus to target Spectre and not Bond, why didn't the Bionic Eye guy die? Or was he somehow not in a list of Spectre agents DNA files despite working for them for at least 5 years?
She was a bit cardboard cutout. No fault of the actress herself it just felt as though they wanted to chuck in some sort of cheesy, sexy old school type bond girl for a few minutes of titillation before moving swiftly on.Favourite bond of the Craig era for me. Run time was off putting but it flew over barring one or two clunky scenes - particularly the raising a glass tribute. And Ana de Armas’ character was a bit… shit? Load of hype about her before hand
I thought Lea Seydoux was brilliant mind. And worra dish.
Here we go again.
I blame Roger Moore.
The series never set out to be humourous in any way and the books certainly weren’t. The films moved away from the books around Diamonds Are Forever (YOLT was nowt like the book but a decent entry, OHMSS was very close to the book) and completely lost their way from say Moonraker until they finally got rid of Moore and Dalton began a long slow reset. For some time now they’ve been aiming at the adult action-espionage genre. Does anyone come away from a Jason Bourne fillum complaining that it wasn’t funny?
Six people in when I went last Saturday and it had only opened at midnight on Thursday.Busiest I’ve seen the cinema in years. Packed out last night.

I’m often curious about film finances. On wiki (if you believe wiki) it says the budget was $250-300 million but it will have to make $800 million to be profitable. That’s some gamble and how did they spend half a billion dollars - twice the cost of the production - on promotion etc. ??
There’s a term called ‘Hollywood Accounting’ which I believe refers to the skulduggery around film budgets and profit and loss. IIRC Forest Gump, one of the most-viewed fillums of all time, allegedly didn’t make a profit so that way they don’t have to pay the fella who wrote the book his percentage points of the action.
Had me tearing up, I'm not really sure why. Just a nice piece of music I've not heard in a while I suppose.Thought it was pretty good although rather convoluted, loved the use of All the time in the world at the end.
Multiple tiers. Cinema, streaming, cable, satellite, Blu ray and finally TV. Take the 'losses' with a pinch of salt they get their money back over the years, even with the poor films.Six people in when I went last Saturday and it had only opened at midnight on Thursday.

****Swearing alert****
Saw the film last night, haven’t read the thread but review is this….
Whoever wrote that utter shite can go and fuck right off and then fuck off again. The organisation that’s been about for years, gone. Arch nemesis, gone. Felix, gone….and f***ing James Bond. Who in the right mind would end the franchise?????? What a shower of utter bastards.
the point of James Bond is that he ALWAYS wins, he ALWAYS gets the girl. Which sick fuck decided to say that he couldn’t touch his lass or bairn or they’d die????? Warped as fuck fuckers.
As for this 007 nonsense, she was shite, just shite. If that’s the future they are planning for they deserve to have it go down the pan into oblivion.
So, to sum up, they can fuck right off
Oh, one positive, the Aston was the star of the show, says everything.
