Depends how its spent really. Bournemouth went from 21st in the 3rd Division to the PL in just 6 seasons but they spent a fair bit getting there. That spending also kept them in the top flight for a further 5 years.
Shorty kept us there longer, he was loved for it. :)

I’ve accepted we will go into first few games with gaps in squad. Not ideal but if we have some quality in by end of window then fair enough. If not then heads should probably roll.

It blows my mind how many people are falling for his verbal diarrhoea. There's absolutely no excuses for not being ready for the start of the season. The end of the window is when you buy your back up, squad fillers. The best players for our level are going or gone. This fella is a chancer

True, but he bought a PL club and the expectations were that a billionaire owner would make a difference. Bournemouth hadn't ever been a top division team, their ground was tiny and the few fans they had must have thought all their Christmas's had come together. Even when the balloon popped they didn't implode the way we did.

There's always a club where people say "Do it the way Southampton do"... or Brentford, or Norwich. One things for sure, no-one ever says "Do it the Sunderland way".

I've noticed that Bobs posts seem to be a little bit more on the critical side these days. From the dealings he has/had with the club in the past, has he now been marginalised this season?

With all due respect to the chap, I see his murmurings as a positive as opposed being placated by bain and that waste of space that was here for 6 months.

They also show patience with the manager as well by basing their decisions on more than just the league table and most recent results.

Think it was something like 10 games without a win at the start of one of their seasons, but they "underlying data" told them that they had actually played / performed well in those games and the results didn't follow what would be expected e.g. if you played those games 100 times in the same manner their average points would be better than they actually got. Its all about understanding "variance" in their system. These are the sorts of things that supporters quite simply don't really care about, especially around the North East where its headlines (and now social media) that drive a lot of thoughts.

The club really does need to start ramping up the way it educates the supporters though to try and get a few more to think along those lines.
If we perform well in the first 10 games, but don't get X number of points, then without a doubt we'll have a lot of fans on Johnson back demanding that we change it because "Brenty is ferking clueless".

NB - look at this shite for starters - KLD out of his depth

It's always easier when you have a small fanbase and you've won nowt in your history though. The level of supporter expectation is low and underperformance is accepted as a return to the norm. As it stands we're performing massively under the norm historically and its difficult to sell a long term plan in those circumstances. I'm not saying having a plan isn't the right thing to do just that unless it produces a short term improvement too it might go down like a lead balloon.

Not sure when the PL starts (week after ours I suspect), but presumably Man City should already have completed the signings of Grealish and Kane by now and should just stop farting about making excuses?

Man City have decent enough cover in those positions WE HAVE NO FULL BACKS MATE

On that count, then yes, I do have to agree with you...This is a definite change from the incapable to the Outlier!

Got no problem with it in the long run and in a higher league. But in league one surely you don't need to.
If you give yourselves excuses not to do it, you'll always give yourself excuses. In the champ it'll be because you want to establish or are pushing for promotion. Similar in the prem. If something is worthwhile, you do it - regardless of the level.

As long as we sign any old full backs then. Or maybe we should have kept hold of McFadzean then?
We supposedly had a list of players we were going to target no matter what division we were in, where are they? He said that those targeted players haven't been lost to any rivals so again where are those players? There is zero excuse for a professional football club to have no recognised full backs in when the season starts, none! It's Mickey Mouse

KS copping it anarl, bloke hasn't been here five minutes. Six months or so into the takeover and the sugar rush kids are stamping their feet having decided the owner and his senior staff are chancers and/or out of their depth.

Bang on, you don't do it when the time is right, you do it to make the time right.

Or something to that effect.

I look at it as a positive change from the coach copping something he isn't responsible for.

KS is responsible for this clubs trajectory and at this point I'd suggest he has been caught on his heels a bit with how he forecasted our business going. There are excuses given his lack of experience and the time provided but some of the fans no longer except them.

I want to be on board as much as possible, I want to believe business hasn't been done for the right reasons, but no full backs at this point.... crikey.

They appear brave in many aspects.

Think both him and LJ are spouting total and utter bull.
They've pulled the plug on the young lad from Liverpool and ignored decent released League one FBs like Ogilvie at Gillingham, all with four games to go to the start of the season.

Iam telling you now, they have no intention of spending on the of spending any money on the lads Gabriel and Keys. Prepare to see Winchester and Niel start in the FB positions.

Got to agree with that. No way you should be going onto season with no full backs they knew who they were releasing and where there would be short. Starting to get worrying that we pulled out of deal for kid from Liverpool to save pennies. I honestly thought they must have someone else lined up and would be signed by now.

We have had 3 players, 2 full backs and a center forward up here over the last 2 weeks all have gone elsewhere.
What does that tell you, if they were brought up here to sign and did not, why?.
Is it because they were looked in the eye and SH thought NAH they don't have that look in the eye I'm after. They don't move onto phase 3.
Who?

If they have already moved there’s no reason for you not to name names….other than you’re pretending to know things you don’t as per.

How many years Now without you getting a single specific thing right?
Basically, it's a shambles. They can bluff it all the want in the media. Had enough time to get the players...and to go into the first game of the season without any full backs is just mental.
I’d argue it would be more mental to go into the first game with fullbacks you don’t really want, who aren’t as good as ones you could get in by end of August if you wait.
