Speakman and strikers

In the grand scheme of football it probably isn't but to us it is. Most of out permanent signings will be around that mark
could structure the deal 1 million season loan with option to buy for another 2 million or something need to do soenthing fast or going to be left with nothing and held to ransom

It's obvious we want a striker.

Basic economics tells you that the demand for something doesn't just mean the desire to have it.

To have a demand, you have to combine the desire to own it with a willingness + ability to pay.

Otherwise it's just like me saying I want a Ferrari.

It's clear we have the desire for a striker, but the evidence of the last few transfer windows tells us we lack either the willingness and/or ability to pay for one. Or at least one who we can be reasonably confident can come in and perform at this level.
I wouldn’t like a Ferrari but other than that you’re spot on

Allegedly they value cannon at 10 mil. If we are paying 1 mill just to loan for a year the cost to buy would be several times that unfortunately

Cannon has 6months of professional football. No-one has really watched him or seen how he would fit within the team. Simply look at numbers, which were a good return but only scored against the worst teams in the division. He may well go well again but 1mil for 6months of professional football is excessive, especially when in a month he won't even be 1st choice. Amad was a likely starter from the beginning and had a much higher pedigree. 1mil from our budget is a lot and has to be used as effectively as possible.

It's fact, yes it was still talked about and we are looking for one. We have 3 on the books. We can argue whether they were the right signings or if they are good enough, but we will sign another and will have 4 on the book for 1 position.
Last season was worse and I complained regularly from the 1st window to the end of the season. As I say I understand the frustration but it only makes sense to wait till the window has closed to see where the squad is at
It’s not fact though.

A 1mil loan fee for cannon is ridiculous and would be stupid to pay it. It's dead money and isn't likely to be a massive step up to warrant it for a season loan.
I like amd would have signed Yates, but equally if we had signed him, most fans would be fuming at it. Especially of we just signed him straight away. Let's face it, if we hadn't got beat on Sunday there wouldn't have been a clamour for singing any old striker. Perhaps they believe they can get better than Yates or cannon but their target isn't available until closer to the end of the window. No-one knows, so we may as well wait until it closes before slamming then for not signing certain strikers.
I'll be one of the first to complain if we aren't stronger come September 1st
Most people have been concerned with the striker situation for 2 and a half seasons, please don't try and make out that this is all about losing one game of football.

So have I. I wasn't happy September last year and I wasn't in February either. But we do actually own 3 CFs, whether they are the right ones I'm not sure but that's more than we have had over the last 4 year. On top of that we are looking to buy atleast 1 more before the window closes. If we had won there would be less hysteria around it as there would be more of a feel good factor glossing over it, but a loss will always cause more reactions to issues. All I'm saying is wait until the window closes before saying our transfer window has been a disgrace as there is still weeks left

Stewart is injured, still to prove his fitness and wont sign a new contract. 2 lads in one 19 years old one 18 years old, both inexperienced and both who have never played football in England. Mowbray has also stated that neither would be starting games if we weren't so short of numbers up front. You can spin it anyway you want, starting the season with an inexperienced 19 year old up front on his own with no striker option on the bench is pretty poor.

TRANSFER WINDOW IS STILL OPEN

It might have been said but strikers cost more than any other player on the pitch KLD won’t spend money so instead of spending £5 million plus we already have a striker in Stewart so unless he is asking stupid money give him what he wants problem solved 😂 wish it was that easy

Its not really problem solved because he's still injured for the foreseeable and could get injured again. We need somebody else aswell.

The problem will be the budget he's given we don't have the money for an established Championship striker and so he's having to try and find young strikers from abroad for cheap and there'll be very little that'll be potentially good enough, the ones that are are seemingly also wanted by other clubs which means we'll have to spend more money on them which we seemingly don't have.

It's not as simple as it's been made out to be.
